Group hot air balloon ride over the Chianti hills

Flying in a hot-air balloon is an extraordinary emotion, and doing so in Tuscany to admire the Chianti hills and art cities from above is undoubtedly a unique experience.

This region is amazing for so many reasons: the beautiful landscapes and architecture, the historic towns and medieval villages, the sea, the Maremma hills, the Apuan Alps. Admiring all this from above will be a real concentration of beauty and will give you a wonderful new perspective.

If you are about to embark on your first flight in a hot-air balloon, you should know that flying in a wicker basket is a fascinating philosophy: you rely totally on the wind and let yourself be carried in its direction, without knowing exactly where the flight will end. The only things that are certain are the professionalism of the pilots, the maximum safety of the experience, and the marvellous views you will enjoy from the basket. Everything else will be a unique and unrepeatable spectacle, which you will only discover by living it in the moment.

As with any great occasion, a final toast cannot be missed to honour a day that will surely remain in the memory.

What we will do

Hot air ballooning owes part of its charm to theunpredictability of the wind. For this reason, the exact meeting time and take-off location will be communicated the day before, when the pilots have checked the weather conditions. In any case, it will take off in thearea between Florence and Siena. Regardless of the flying area, the spectacle from above will be grandiose!

Once we arrive at the meeting place, we will be welcomed by the pilot and ground staff, and we will have a briefing during which the principles of ballooning and safety rules will be explained to us. After that, we will wait for the air in the balloon to warm up sufficiently to rise into the air.

We will fly in the direction of the wind and at its speed. From above we will admire the rolling hills of Chianti, postcard landscapes characterised by green meadows and vineyards and dotted with characteristic villages and medieval buildings. The currents of the day may push us as far as the marvellous Piazza del Campo in Siena or the Piazza del Duomo in Florence and let us admire the urban splendour of the cities from above.

Upon landing, we will find the ground crew waiting for us for a small toast and, finally, we will be escorted back to the take-off point. The activity lasts a total of about 3 hours, including 1 hour of actual balloon flight.

Who it is aimed at

Hot air ballooning is a suitable activity for all healthy people, aged 5 years and over. The only restrictions are for pregnant women, those suffering from cardiovascular diseases and those with mobility problems in their lower limbs. If you have any doubts about your fitness to fly, please consult your doctor.

Attention! Please arrive at the meeting point at least 15 minutes in advance.

Flights take place throughout the year on the dates indicated in the calendar. Schedules may vary slightly and will be confirmed after booking.

We tend to fly early in the morning to take advantage of the most favourable currents of the day. In the hot season, flying during the middle of the day is prohibited as the higher temperatures may cause instability. Afternoon flights are only permitted from October to March.

After booking, you will receive a confirmation e-mail, but you will have to wait until the day before the flight to receive communication from the pilot regarding the exact meeting address and time. As already mentioned, balloon flights depend on the weather report and wind conditions.

You can request a shuttle service from your residence or hotel to the take-off point and back, from €160 for 2-4 persons.
