Group hot air balloon ride over Altopiano della Sila

Are you a nature lover and always on the lookout for spectacular landscapes to capture? Then you cannot miss a hot-air balloon flight over theSila Plateau and its National Park.

A maze of mountains and verdant valleys full of centuries-old forests and silvery streams, the Sila Park is the authentic natural heart of Calabria: admire it from above as you fly in the wind!

What we will do

We will be in an area close to the Sila National Park, in the province of Cosenza. The address of the meeting point will be provided a few days before the activity, after the pilot has selected the take-off area according to the wind conditions.

We will follow the crew from the preparation stages of the hot air balloon, fromlighting the burner to inflating the balloon. Then we will board the wicker basket and wait for take-off.

Having reached a suitable altitude, the balloon will rely completely on the wind, which will carry it in its direction and at its speed. Because of this, the route is different each time and each flight is unique and unrepeatable!

We will be flying over theSila plateau, between the provinces of Cosenza, Catanzaro and Crotone, admiring the wonderful natural landscapes of the National Park of the same name that lies within it. We will be totally immersed in this unspoilt scenery, recognised as a site of excellence by UNESCO.

After about 1 hour of flight, the hot-air balloon will land gently and we will find the ground crew waiting for us, who will offer us a toast and a taste of typical Calabrian products. Finally, we will be given ourflight certificate and we will be taken back to the initial meeting point.

In total, the experience will last about three hours.

Who it is aimed at

This activity is of an easy level and suitable for everyone, from 8 years of age and up, and with a height of at least 130 cm.

All you need to be in good health to fly in a hot-air balloon; the only restrictions are for pregnant women, those suffering from serious illnesses incompatible with flying, and those with mobility problems in their lower limbs. If you are in doubt about your fitness to fly, please consult your attending physician.

Other information

Attention! Please arrive at the meeting point approximately half an hour before the departure time.

Important: this activity can be booked all year round and will only be confirmed when there are at least 5 participants if weather conditions guarantee maximum safety.

The flight takes place in the early morning hours or at sunset to take advantage of the best currents. The day before the activity, the pilot will confirm the meeting time and give you the exact address for the meeting point.
