'Taste of salt, taste of the sea', sang Gino Paoli. And yes, because these two elements have always been linked!
We are waiting for you in Marsala for a magical experience: a guided tour of a historic salt mine, the first organic one in Italy.
Get ready to walk for 45 minutes among crystal-clear pools and views suspended between land and water, to fill your eyes with beauty!
What we will do
The appointment is 20 minutes before the indicated time at the meeting point in Marsala (TP), at a historic saltworks. Awaiting us will be the guide who will accompany us on our visit.
Our walking tour will cover about 1. 5 km of the vast area of the open-air salt pans. We will literally walk inside the ponds, closely observing the processes that transform seawater into organic salt. The guide will show us every step of the process, from the crystallisation of the so-called 'white gold' to its harvesting, enriching the tour with anecdotes about the history and architecture of the salt pans.
We will discover a reality built in the 15th century and carried on, generation after generation, by the 'curatoli', those who take care of this extraordinary environment. We will understand why producing salt is not as obvious as it seems and admire the unique landscape created by this ecosystem.

The route is unpaved and is not accessible by wheelchair or pushchair.

If you have made a fixed date reservation and the weather conditions are not suitable for carrying out the activity safely (according to the expert opinion of the guide), you will be refunded the full amount paid. The guide may suggest an alternative date or time for the activity. You are free to choose whether or not to accept these suggestions. If you are unable to reschedule, we will proceed with a full refund! If you have set the date of your Gift Voucher and bad weather has prevented the activity from taking place, the Voucher remains valid until the expiry date indicated on it.
