Etna is one of the most magical places in our country. Walking on the slopes of an active volcano is an unforgettable emotion that deserves to be experienced at least once in a lifetime. With our excursion you can spend a unique half-day in a wild and fascinating territory.
Climb to an altitude of 2,800 metres in 4x4 vehicles and begin your trek to the summit craters at 3,300 metres in the company of an alpine or volcanological guide. From the summit of Mount Etna you will be able to observe from above the wonderful surrounding landscape, from the Aeolian Islands to the Calabrian coastline.

What we will do
The rendezvous is at Piano Provenzana-Etna Nord (1,800 metres) at 8.30 am. Here we will climb aboard latest-generation 4x4 off-road vehicles, accompanied by authorised mountain or volcanological guides.
Through a dirt road, one of the highest roadways in Europe, we will reach an altitude of 2,800 metres and leave our vehicles to begin a trek lasting about an hour and a half. We will visit the summit craters (Cratere Centrale - Bocca Nuova) at an altitude of about 3,300 metres, admiring spectacular volcanic phenomena.
The excursion to the summit craters of our 'gentle giant' is perhaps one of the most sought after by hiking enthusiasts onEtna. The beauty of this canvas painted by the force of nature leaves lucky hikers breathless and with an indelible memory in time.
We will have the sensation of touching the meeting point of Etna's driving forces, the destructive one, with which the Etnean inhabitants have learnt to live for centuries, and the creative one, which enriches us with incredible manifestations of nature.
After an adequate visit, we will begin our descent, skirting the North-East Crater and heading towards the Valle del Leone (Lion Valley), to finally reach thePizzi Deneri Volcanological Observatory (2,800 metres), where it will be possible to admire the Aeolian Islands, Syracuse, the gulf of Giardini Naxos and the Calabrian coastline.
Here we will re-board the 4×4 vehicles for the return to Piano Provenzana. The excursion will take between 4 ½ and 5 hours, depending on the pace of the group.
Who it is aimed at
The tour is of medium difficulty and is not suitable for pregnant women over the third month and people with heart disease, asthma and hypertension.
Children from the age of 10 can also participate.

Attention! Please arrive at the meeting point 30 minutes before the departure time.
The activity is bookable from June to October and is confirmed once 8 participants are reached.

What happens in case of bad weather?
If you have made a fixed date reservation and the weather conditions are not suitable for the safe conduct of the activity (in the expert opinion of the guide), you will be refunded the full amount paid. The guide may suggest an alternative date or time for you to conduct the activity. You can freely choose whether or not to accept these proposals. If you can’t retrieve it, we will process a full refund! If you have set the date for your Gift Voucher and bad weather did not allow the activity to take place, the Voucher remains regularly valid until the expiration date indicated on it.
If I cancel the reservation, can I get a full refund?
For this activity, the cancellation policy is flexible. You get a full refund if you cancel within 5 days from the activity start date. Within 4 and 3 days from the activity start date you will get a 50% refund. You can find the full policies in the Cancellation Policy section.
