Full description
Hiking on the slopes of an active volcano is an experience worth trying at least once in a lifetime.
Climb to an altitude of 2,800 metres in 4x4 vehicles and experience a trek to Etna's summit craters at 3,300 metres in the company of an alpine or volcanological guide.

What we will do
We will meet, 30 minutes before the time selected during the booking process, at the meeting point in Piano Provenzana-Etna Nord (1,800 metres). Here we will board the latest generation of 4x4 off-road vehicles, accompanied by authorised mountain or volcanological guides.
Through a dirt road, one of the highest driveways in Europe, we will reach an altitude of 2,800 metres and leave our vehicles to begin a trek lasting about an hour and a half. We will visit the summit craters (Cratere Centrale - Bocca Nuova) at an altitude of about 3,300 metres, admiring spectacular volcanic phenomena.
The excursion to the summit craters of our 'gentle giant' is perhaps one of the most sought after by hiking enthusiasts onEtna. The beauty of this canvas painted by the force of nature leaves lucky hikers breathless and with an indelible memory in time.
We will have the sensation of brushing up against the meeting point of Etna's driving forces, the destructive one, which Etna's inhabitants have learned to live with for centuries, and the creative one, which enriches us with incredible manifestations of nature.
After a moment of exploration, we will begin our descent, skirting the North-East Crater and heading towards the Valle del Leone (Lion Valley), to finally reach thePizzi Deneri Volcanological Observatory (2,800 metres), where it will be possible to admire the Aeolian Islands, Syracuse, the gulf of Giardini Naxos, and the Calabrian coastline.
Here we will re-board the 4×4 vehicles for the return to Piano Provenzana. The excursion will take between 4 ½ and 5 hours, depending on the pace of the group.
Who it is aimed at
The tour is of medium difficulty and is not suitable for pregnant women over the third month and people with heart disease, asthma and hypertension.
Children from the age of 10 can also participate.
Other information
The activity is available from June to October and is confirmed upon reaching 8 participants.
