Half-day drifting course in Reggio Emilia

Have you always dreamt of trying your hand at drifting and learning to control a car as it slides sideways? Well, now’s the time to turn that dream into reality in Reggio Emilia with a proper half-day drifting course!

You’ll get behind the wheel of a BMW built specifically to make the tyres smoke, enjoying an experience that combines theory and practice with a full 60 minutes of actual driving. Accompanied by a CONI-certified instructor, you’ll learn to coordinate the accelerator and countersteering as you try your hand at exercises such as the ‘donut’ and the figure of eight between cones.

What we will do

The meeting point is 30 minutes before the time specified at the time of booking in Reggio nell’Emilia (RE). Here, you’ll be immersed in the world of drifting, ready to discover this thrilling sport.

We’ll start with a theory session lasting around 20 minutes in the classroom: the instructors will guide you through the secrets of vehicle dynamics and explain the physics needed to understand how the car reacts. That’s it for the theory: from now on, it’s time to get down to business!

You’ll get behind the wheel of a BMW specially set up for drifting for a total of 1 hour’s driving. To ensure you can concentrate fully and get to grips with every manoeuvre without wearing out the tyres, your 60 minutes behind the wheel will be divided into sessions of 15–20 minutes each.

You’ll be driving on the private paddock, tackling basic exercises of increasing difficulty: you’ll try your hand at the pendulum turn – a technique that uses the car’s weight transfer to set it up sideways – and you’ll discover how to use the hydraulic handbrake to initiate a controlled double turn. You’ll draw perfect circles around the cones, completing the iconic ‘8’ and the spectacular ‘donut’, whilst learning to manage the accelerator to maintain the car’s continuous skid.

You’ll never be on your own: a professional instructor will always be sitting beside you, guiding you with advice and encouragement in complete safety. At the end of the experience, you’ll receive your course materials (a 15-page booklet summarising what you’ve learnt) and a certificate valid throughout Italy and recognised by CONI.

The experience will last approximately 4 hours in total.

Who it is aimed at

This experience is reserved for participants who are at least 155 cm tall.

A driving licence is not required, as the activity takes place entirely on a private forecourt closed to traffic; however, you must be able to operate the clutch and manual gearbox. The experience is therefore not recommended for new drivers.

Participation is prohibited for anyone suffering from medical conditions that could compromise driving safety.

Other information

The activity takes place all year round on the dates shown in the calendar, on Saturdays or Sundays. The experience goes ahead even in light bad weather, as the rain helps to make drifting easier by reducing friction on the ground.

The cars used for the experience are BMWs specially prepared for drifting – agile and responsive models ranging from 150 to 450 CV.

The exercises may vary depending on the participant’s actual ability.

Any accompanying guests are welcome and may wait in the indoor facilities or take photos and videos from the designated areas. A bar service is available on site.
