Full description
Anexcursion to an active volcano is a unique adventure! Get ready to ascend Mount Etna by cable car and explore the smoking craters with an expert guide.
You will be at an altitude of 2,600 metres and from up there you will enjoy spectacular views of the Bove Valley and the Ionian coast of Sicily.
Then you will go on an easy and fun trekking route full of unforgettable volcanic landscapes to discover all the volcano's secrets (which you don't have to reveal)!
What we will do
The appointment is 15 minutes before 09:00 a.m. at the meeting point in Nicolosi (CT). Here we will meet the dedicated guide and board the cable car: with this we will reach an altitude of 2,500 metres, at which point our trekking tour will begin up to an altitude of 2,600 metres!
From here we will enjoy a fascinating first view of Etna's volcanic landscape, with its active craters on one side and the splendid view of the Ionian coast on the other. We will explore this area of the volcano with the guide, who will lead us on a path through the craters generated by the eruptions of 2001.
After about 40 minutes of walking, we will take a downhill path on volcanic sand to reach other craters and the large Valle del Bove caldera, the enormous depression where most of Etna's lava flows converge. We will then return to the base of the cable car, at an altitude of 1,900 metres. Throughout the experience, the guide will share information with us about Etna'senvironment, geology and history.
Once we cross the finish line, we will have covered about 5 km. The experience will last about 5 ½ hours in total.
Who it is aimed at
The experience is suitable for children from 6 years of age; the experience is not recommended for children from 0 to 5 years of age, who may participate free of charge by contacting the guide at the contact details given in the e-mail confirmation of the booking to indicate their presence.
The activity is easy and does not require training.

The experience takes place from April to November and is confirmed upon reaching a minimum number of 2 participants.
There is free parking on site. The meeting point can be reached by public transport. A transfer service from your accommodation to the meeting point is available at an extra charge of €30 per person: to request this, contact the organiser (contact details will be sent to you by e-mail with your booking confirmation).

What happens in case of bad weather?
If you have made a fixed date reservation and the weather conditions are not suitable for the safe conduct of the activity (in the expert opinion of the guide), you will be refunded the full amount paid. The guide may suggest an alternative date or time for you to conduct the activity. You can freely choose whether or not to accept these proposals. If you can’t retrieve it, we will process a full refund! If you have set the date for your Gift Voucher and bad weather did not allow the activity to take place, the Voucher remains regularly valid until the expiration date indicated on it.
If I cancel the reservation, can I get a full refund?
For this activity, the cancellation policy is flexible. You get a full refund if you cancel within 5 days from the activity start date. Within 4 and 3 days from the activity start date you will get a 50% refund. You can find the full policies in the Cancellation Policy section.
