Full description

The Aosta Valley, with its mountains, forests and its trails, is one of the favourite destinations for those who want to get away from the hectic city world and enjoy a few hours of sport or relaxation in nature.

To explore its still largely unspoilt itineraries, what better unspoilt, what better companion than the horse? With this With this3-hour excursion on the Valle d'Aosta trails, you will get in tune with an enchanting animal and immerse yourself in a little piece of the world still strongly linked to traditions and the environment.

An equestrian guide will accompany you on a scenic route around the villages of Saint Pierre and Saint Nicolas, helping you to improve your horse-riding techniques and guaranteeing you a pleasant, safe and relaxing experience.

As a reward for your progress on horseback, you can stop at a typical tavern to sample the flavours of Valle d'Aosta cuisine. Are you ready to go?

What we will do

We will meet in Vetan (1800 m a.s.l.), a small hamlet of the village of Saint Pierre (AO), easily reached from the main road and motorway arteries. Here we will get to know the equestrian guides, who will take us on a discovery of the local beauty and traditions, and of course the horses.

We will begin with a briefing on how to behave in the saddle and a review of the fundamentals of horse riding. For the less experienced, there will be an opportunity to go over basic horse-riding techniques, until we reach a level of confidence that allows us to ride with peace of mind and safety.

Our ride will start from Vetan and wind its way along the unspoilt paths of the valley, towards Saint Pierre and Saint Nicolas, two small characteristic villages, where you can breathe in an atmosphere that seems to have crystallised in time. Majestic mountain peaks, alpine pastures, forests and medieval castles will make us feel immersed in another dimension.

After about an hour and a half of riding, we will stop at one of the many typical taverns in the area, where we will taste the delicacies of Valle d'Aosta cuisine and genuine products from the surrounding countryside and mountain pastures.

After eating, we will set off again on horseback for the second part of the itinerary , which will take us, among other things, to admire the Saint Nicolas gullies, curious rock formations, the result of erosive phenomena.

On the return trip, we can visit the estate, watch thecattle being cared for, watch the milk being processed to make Fontina AOC and other dairy products, and immerse ourselves in the rural life of the local people.

The activity lasts a total of about 4 hours, including 3 hours on horseback. The route may vary depending on the participants' level of experience or following specific requests or needs (to be agreed with the guide).
