Couple horseback riding day in the heart of Tolfa with lunch

Spend awhole day on horseback in the woods of the Monti della Tolfa and discover a protected nature reserve just over an hour from Rome.

Ride freely along nature trails in the company of an expert guide who will tell you about the history of the area and the characteristics of its flora and fauna.

Enjoy an open-air lunch based on zero-kilometre products prepared by a chef just for you and experience the excitement of equestrian tourism in an environmental context rich in biodiversity and evocative views.

What we will do

We will be at the Pian della Carlotta ranch , in Cerveteri (RM). Upon our arrival, the equestrian guides will welcome us by showing us the estate and introducing us to our companions in adventure: splendid horses bred without horses hoes and using natural methods, in full respect of their spontaneous behaviour and in perfect harmony with the environment.

The experience will not be a simple horseback ride, but an excursion aimed at discovering and enhancing the Monti della Tolfa district, an area of particular naturalistic interest thanks to the presence of numerous animal and plant species - including rare, protected and endemic ones. The horse will be our travelling companion, our interpreter of the natural world.

Along the way we will encounter herds of cattle grazing in the wild and, with a bit of luck, spot wild animals such as badgers, hedgehogs and wild boar. The guide who accompanies us will tell us about the characteristics of the area, teach us to read the signs of the animals' passage and activities, and perhaps introduce us to some plant species that can be harvested and eaten.

Along the way we will make a stop to taste some special products such as the preserves, jams and sauces of the Il Sapore dei Pascoli farm, all prepared exclusively with wild herbs and fruits. For lunch instead, a table set in the middle of the forest will be waiting for us and a chef who will prepare a refined menu just for us using strictly local products of the highest quality.

In the afternoon, we will continue on horseback to the major points of interest in the Tolfa Mountains, before returning to the ranch around 16:30. The route will be adapted in length and difficulty to the level and preferences of the participants.

Who it is aimed at

This activity is at an intermediate level and is open to everyone aged 14 years and over and with a weight limit of 90 kg. A fair degree of familiarity with horseback riding is required.

This activity can be carried out all year round, weather permitting, and is intended for private groups of 2 persons.

There is free parking on site. The meeting point can be reached by public transport: there is a free transfer service to/from the Santa Severa railway station and a transfer service for a fee (€10.00 per person per round trip) to/from the Marina di Cerveteri railway station; contact the guide at the contact details given in the booking confirmation e-mail to request the service.
