Full moon horseback riding in the Tolfa Mountains and aperitif

Experience the suggestive atmosphere of sunset in the Tolfa Mountains and enjoy a ride under the full moon through the woods and pastures of thisnatural area where animals live in the wild.

In the saddle of your horse you will ride along nature trails, immersed in the peace of the evening and accompanied by a zoologist who will guide you in the discovery of this amazing area.

And when darkness falls, the atmosphere will become even more magical: you will be able to admire a marvellous starry sky and spot the nocturnal animals that inhabit the reserve.

What we will do

We will meet at sunset at the Pian della Carlotta ranch in Cerveteri, just over 1 hour from Rome. Equestrian guides will welcome us, introducing us to the activity and their methods of breeding horses, which live here without horseshoes and in natural conditions.

We will leave for the excursion accompanied by a zoologist who will guide us inobserving the vegetation and features of the area. We will be able to enjoy the last rays of the sun and the colours of twilight until darkness falls and, with a bit of luck, we may encounter wild animals peeping through the trees at night.

Very different from the classic horseback ride, this excursion is aimed at discovering and enhancing the Monti della Tolfa area, an area of particular naturalistic interest thanks to the presence of numerous animal and plant species - including rare, protected and endemic ones. The horse, which has been used for centuries to move around these 'mountains', will be our vehicle, our way of respectfully entering an intact world.

We will make a stop where we will be offered an aperitif based on products from the Il Sapore dei Pascoli company, such as preserves, pickles, jams, crostini with wild herb sauces, and from other small local companies such as cheese and wine.

The route varies from time to time depending on the environmental conditions and the level of the participants. The activity lasts 3 hours in total.

Who it is aimed at

This activity is at an intermediate level and is open to everyone aged 14 years and over and with a weight limit of 90 kg. A fair degree of familiarity with horseback riding is required.

There is free parking on site. The meeting point can be reached by public transport: there is a free transfer service to/from the Santa Severa railway station and a transfer service for a fee (€10.00 per person per round trip) to/from the Marina di Cerveteri railway station.
