Did you know that there is a heart-shaped lake in Abruzzo?
We are talking about Lake Scanno, surrounded by the peaks of the Marsicani Mountains: a perfect location for your next horseback ride.
Get in the saddle and ride for an hour with an equestrian guide, who will take you to discover the best views of this uniquely beautiful place!
What we will do
We will meet in Villalago (AQ), 10 minutes before the appointed time.
The riding school, located at an altitude of 1,000 metres, is just a stone's throw from Lake Scanno, which has become famous for being heart-shaped. We will be welcomed by the equestrian guide, who will give a few minutes' briefing on the basics: posture, balance and how to stay in the saddle. The horses are docile and accustomed even to novices, so we will feel comfortable right away.
We will start the walk by riding along approximately 50 metres of paved lakeside road, and then take a picturesque mountain trail. The ring-shaped route will be varied and scenic: ascents, descents and bottlenecks will accompany us on an authentic experience in the nature of the Monti Marsicani.
We will cross a beautiful beech forest, where the coolness of the trees will give us a regenerating break, and we will enjoy a beautiful panoramic view of the lake and its romantic silhouette from above.
After about 4-5 km we will return to the riding stables; the total duration of the activity will be about one hour.
Who it is aimed at
The activity is suitable for everyone from the age of 14.
Children under the age of 18 can only participate if they have previous riding experience and are accompanied by an adult, while over 18 no experience is required.
The course has some narrow and overhanging sections, so it may not be suitable for those suffering from vertigo.
The maximum weight for participants is 120 kg.
Other information
The activity takes place from April to October and is confirmed with a minimum number of 4 people.
The mount used is the American one.
Any accompanying persons can wait in the riding stables during the activity; the facility has a farmhouse and dogs on a leash can be brought along.
The meeting point can be reached by public transport (bus stop approx. 800 metres away); free parking is available on site.
