Horse riding in the Ostia pine forest with tasting

Immerse yourself in an oasis of peace and well-being with our horseback ride through the pine forest in Ostia.

You will ride for about one and a half hours in the unspoilt nature of the Litorale Romano State Nature Reserve before enjoying an aperitif with local products.

And if this is your first time on horseback, don't worry: experienced instructors will teach you theabc of horse riding and get you in tune with this extraordinary animal. Get ready to saddle up!

What we will do

The appointment is inside the Litorale Romano State Nature Reserve, between Ostia Antica and Ostia Lido, a few kilometres from Rome. Upon our arrival, we will be welcomed by the equestrian guide and immediately introduced to the horses.

We will be shown how to approach the horse, how to take care of it and feed it, teaching us the best ways to approach it and make us feel like friends. With this method, a strong connection between man and horse will immediately be established, so that the next step, i.e. riding, will happen naturally and spontaneously.

We will then get on the horse's back to begin our walk through the pine forest. We will ride for about an hour and a half surrounded by unspoilt nature, among beautiful holm oaks and maritime pines, while the guide accompanies us with stories and curiosities about the places we will see.

Once back at the base, we will dismount from our horses. We will then each board our own means of transport to reach the bistro about 1 km from the facility , where we will be served a delicious aperitif, with a platter of sliced cold meats and zero-kilometre products, seasonal vegetables and carasau bread. This will be accompanied by a beverage of your choice of a glass of red wine, beer, spritz or a non-alcoholic drink.

Between the initial briefing, horse riding and tasting, the activity lasts about 2½ hours.

Who it is aimed at

The experience is suitable for ages 9 and up. Children under the age of 18 must be accompanied to the riding school by a parent to sign a release form. A maximum of 2 children aged 9 to 13 may participate per booking.

A maximum weight of 90 kg is required to participate.

The experience is of an easy level and suitable as a first horse ride.

Participation is not permitted for persons with hip, knee or reduced mobility problems or those with prostheses.

Other information

This activity is for groups of 1 to 4 participants and can be held every day of the year, except Mondays.

The tasting includes a platter of cold cuts and zero-km products, seasonal vegetables and carasau bread. Vegetarian alternatives are available on request. Contact the guide directly after the booking confirmation to communicate any special needs or food intolerances.

Both English and American style riding is possible.

The meeting point cannot be reached by public transport. The experience requires a transfer by own transport to reach the bistro where the aperitif will take place (about 1 km from the meeting point).
