Forget the hustle and bustle of the city and regenerate body and mind with a horseback ride in the cool of the maritime pines of the Litorale Romano State Nature Reserve near Ostia.
Spend an hour and a half in the company of a special friend, the horse, surrounded by nature and just a few steps from the sea. Experienced instructors will teach you theabc of horse riding and get you into perfect harmony with this extraordinary animal.
This horseback ride is perfect for beginners and novices and for anyone who wants to approach the equestrian world for the first time.
What we will do
The appointment is in the Litorale Romano State Nature Reserve, between Ostia Antica and Ostia Lido, a few kilometres from Rome. An equestrian guide will be waiting for us, who will immediately take us to meet the horses.
The guide will show us how to approach the animal, how to care for it and feed it, teaching us the best ways to approach it and make it feel like a friend. With this method, a strong harmony will immediately be established between man and horse, so that the next step, i.e. riding, will happen naturally and spontaneously.
Always followed by the guide, we will get on the horse's back and start giving him the first commands to begin our walk in the pine forest. We will ride for about 1 hour surrounded by unspoilt nature, among beautiful holm oaks and maritime pines, while the guide accompanies us with stories and curiosities about the local flora and fauna.
The total duration of the activity is 1 ½ hours and ends with the return to the riding school.
Who it is aimed at
The experience is suitable for ages 9 and up. Children under the age of 18 must be accompanied to the riding school by a parent to sign a release form.
A maximum weight of 90 kg is required to participate.
The experience is of an easy level and suitable as a first horse ride.
Persons with hip, knee or reduced mobility problems or those with prostheses are not permitted to participate.
Other information
This activity is aimed at groups of 1 to 4 participants and can take place all year round, subject to guide availability and favourable weather conditions.
Both English and American-style riding is possible.
