Have you ever seen a rock resembling Gruyère cheese?
We are talking about the Soprasasso Caves, a natural monument characterised by cavities shaped by water and wind. You can admire them by participating in our horseback ride in the province of Bologna: in the company of an equestrian guide, you will ride to discover the hills and mountains of Emilia.
A 4-hour experience in the surprising Reno Valley!
What we will do
The appointment is 15 minutes before the selected time at the meeting point in Vergato (BO). Awaiting us will be the equestrian guide who will accompany us on this adventure!
Having gathered all the participants, we will get to know the horses and mount the saddle. The guide will explain the basics of horse riding and provide all the useful information for a carefree experience.
And here we are ready to begin our horseback ride: we will embark on an Italian Alpine Club trail leading to Castelnuovo, and then enter a grove. We will ride in the natural setting of Monte di Castelnuovo, enjoying a panoramic view of the Reno Valley along the way.
We will reach a point where we will dismount from our horses, entrust our steed to the guides and continue on foot. We will face an uphill trek of about 20 minutes that will lead us to the Soprasasso Caves. This natural monument consists of cavities produced by the shaping action of water and wind, which make the rock sympathetically resemble a beehive or Swiss cheese! We will have about 20 minutes of free time to explore the Soprasasso Caves.
Still following the same path, we will then return to our horses. We will get back in the saddle and return to the meeting point. The experience will last a total of 4 hours.
