Discover the secrets of the truffle in an exclusive experience in the province of Siena!
Enter the suggestive woods of the Val d'Elsa for a truffle hunt reserved only for you and your group. Accompanied by expert truffle hunters and their extraordinary trained dogs, you will discover the fascinating world of this precious mushroom.
From search techniques to curiosities about the different seasonal varieties, every moment of this 2-hour experience will bring you closer to the magic of truffle hunting. At the end, you can buy the truffle you have found or conclude with a lunch of local specialities.

What we will do
We will meet in the morning in Colle di Val d'Elsa, in the province of Siena. Here we will meet the truffle hunter and his dogs, ready to guide us on this exclusive adventure. After a short drive in our own car (about 10 minutes), we will reach a natural truffle ground in the woods of Val d'Elsa, where the hunt will begin.
We will begin with an introduction on:
- How the truffle is born: we will understand where and how this precious fungus is formed, which trees help it to grow and why it is so special.
- The seasonal varieties: we will discover the differences between white and black truffles, the best times to find them and the small signs that reveal their presence.
- Truffle dogs: we will see how they are trained, how they work together with the truffle hunter and the unique bond that makes them an unbeatable team.
This will be followed by the most exciting part: in the company of the truffle hunter and the dogs, we will go into the woods in search of the precious underground mushroom. We will watch the dogs in action, sniffing and digging with incredible precision, and actively participate by helping with the digging and sharing theexcitement of the find.
The experience will last about 2 hours in total. At the end, you will be able to buy the truffles you have found and take them home or complete the experience with lunch (not included) at a local establishment, enjoying dishes based on fresh truffles and typical Tuscan products.
Who it is aimed at
The activity is suitable for everyone from 5 years of age. Children under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a parent or responsible adult.
Theactivity is not suitable for people with walking difficulties.
Other information
The experience can be booked from January to September.
At the end of the activity, it will be possible to buy the truffles found.
Dogs may participate in the experience, provided they are on a leash. If you wish to take your dog with you, please let the guide know in advance (you will receive contact details with your booking confirmation).
The transfer to the truffle ground will be autonomous: you must have your own vehicle to reach the hunting site.
The meeting point is not easily accessible by public transport; there is free parking on site.
