Born in Aosta, I grew up surrounded by the fantastic peaks of my region. After finishing my studies, I began to get to know the mountain world. In a short time, I became passionate about all mountain disciplines, from trekking to high-altitude mountaineering and ice climbing. In 2016, I fulfilled my dream of becoming an Alpine Guide.

Full description

Embark on a day of ice climbing and measure yourself against a fascinating winter sport that will let you discover unspoilt corners of nature and test your physical and mental mettle.

Among extreme sports, ice climbing is one of the most fleeting because it can only be practised when the mountain waterfalls are perfectly frozen. So don't miss the opportunity to experience an adventure that is more unique than rare!

With a gradual approach aligned to your experience, our Alpine Guides will teach you the progression techniques for climbing the Lillaz waterfalls, in the splendid setting of the Val di Cogne, one of the most evocative locations in Valle d'Aosta.

What we will do

We will meet the mountain guide around 7.30am in the vicinity of Cogne (AO). After the distribution of equipment, we will set out on the climbing site with an approach walk of between 20 and 40 minutes. The site is selected by the guide after careful observation of the ice conditions, which is essential to guarantee safety in the activity.

Once at the Lillaz waterfalls or other ice walls in the area, we will put on our helmet, harness and crampons (provided by the guide). We will begin with an introductory briefing on ice climbing and demonstrations on theuse of equipment and safety rules.

The guide will adapt the method and approach according to our level and, as the morning progresses, technical aspects will be explored in more depth and practical tests will be carried out on single pitch and top rope mode (as second climbers).

The activity will end at around 1 p.m. with a return on foot to the meeting point, for a total of around four hours of ice-climbing lessons, interspersed with breaks if necessary.

Who it is aimed at

This activity is at an intermediate level and is aimed at all sportsmen and women who want to try their hand at a new discipline. Good physical fitness is required. Previous climbing experience (rock or indoor) is not obligatory but is helpful. Participation is possible from the age of 16.
