Full description
Would you like to build an igloo and spend the night inside? With this experience you will learn the real technique used by the Inuit people and experience unique emotions in the beautiful landscape of the Monti Sibillini National Park.
Get ready for two adventurous days in the snow, where you will be the protagonist of an exciting winter survival course, with many activities to be performed under the guidance of expert instructors.
Not only the construction of an igloo, but also snowshoeing, hiking and orientation techniques in the snow, notions of first aid and much more!
What we will do
We will meet 15 minutes before 9 a.m. in Norcia (PG). Here we will meet the guides and other participants and move by car to the activity location, chosen according to snow conditions. At the nearest car park, we will leave the cars and continue on snowshoes to the designated location.
The first thing to do will be to set up base camp and learn the technique of building igloos. Using the ice saw, we will form compact blocks that will be the bricks of our structure. The activity will take most of the day.
Towards evening, we will leave for anight hike where we will learn to orient ourselves with the stars and a compass. On our return, well equipped, we will spend the night in the igloos, inside which there will be a constant temperature of around 5 degrees, as the snow bricks act as insulation.
The next morning we will have breakfast and get ready to set off on a snowshoe hike in the Sibillini Mountains. Along the way, the guides will give us very useful tips on how to hike in the wilderness. On the way back, after dismantling the base camp, we will return to Norcia by 4.30 p.m. for the delivery of thecertificate.
