Full description
Treat yourself to a 2-hour kayak tour on the calm waters of Lake Massaciuccoli in Tuscany. You will first take a short lesson to familiarise yourself with the paddling technique and immediately afterwards set off on your exploration of the lake.
You will discover the fascinating area known as the ' padule', with its reeds and natural canals, and spot beautiful birds such as ospreys, cormorants, white herons and buzzards.
In addition to its natural charm, the lake also has a certain historical importance thanks to its connection with Giacomo Puccini, who chose Torre del Lago as his favourite residence, turning it into a holiday resort for artists and writers. In short, it will be a paddle between history and nature!
What we will do
We will meet at the small harbour on Lake Massaciuccoli, where the instructor will be waiting for us with our kayaks.
During the first part of the activity we will do a briefing lasting about 30 minutes to get a minimum of familiarity with the kayak and paddle. That is, we will learn how to paddle in the correct manner.
Once the briefing is over, we will be ready to enter the water with the kayak and begin our excursion in one of the most beautiful natural settings in all of Tuscany, inside the Migliarino - San Rossore - Massaciuccoli Regional Park.
We will paddle on the calm waters of the lake characterised by an area of reeds and natural canals, known as the padule. The lake has always been one of the most famous locations forbird spotting. In fact, around 300 different species, such as hawks, buzzards, sacred ibises and storks, have been spotted here.
Lake Massaciuccoli is not only important from a naturalistic point of view, but also from a historical one, as we will discover together with our guide. While paddling, we will be able to see the two main villages on its shores: Torre del Lago and Massaciuccoli. Torre del Lago, in particular, was chosen as a residence by the composer Giacomo Puccini and in the early 1900s became a famous haunt for artists, poets and intellectuals.
We will return to our starting point after about 2 hours.

The activity is at an easy level and open to everyone, aged 10 and up.
Participants must be within a weight limit of 100 kg.
Other information
The tour can be booked all year round, every day, and is confirmed when there are at least two participants.
Changing rooms, toilets, storage space for personal belongings and a large car park are available at the kayak centre. A waterproof bag is provided for mobile phones.
The excursion takes place in single kayaks, with limited availability of double kayaks.
