Who said that to learn to surf you have to start from the sea?
In Arenzano, in the province of Genoa, a fun and super effective combo lesson is waiting for you: you start with skateboarding, then dive into the waves!
In two and a half hours you will learn to move like a real surfer, first on the board with wheels, then in the water together with an instructor, who will give you the right push to ride your first wave!
What we will do
We will meet 15 minutes before the indicated time in Arenzano (GE), where we will be welcomed by one of the instructors.
We will start the lesson with a first part dedicated to skateboarding, on a board with an articulated trolley similar to a surfboard. We will practice on a flat surface or on a wooden ramp, depending on our initial level of confidence, and we will learn how to balance and how to use the body to move forward and draw turns. Between practice, we will also discover the history that unites skateboarding and surfing.
After about an hour of practice, we will move to the beach. We will change, have a short technical briefing and go through a theory session on the basics of surfing: paddling, board position, rotation and take-off techniques. Once we are ready, we will enter the sea for the most exciting part: we will try to stand on the board, helped by the instructor, and face the first waves.
Once the sea session is over, we will return to the shore for a short debriefing where we can share our impressions.
The activity will last a total of 2 hours and 30 minutes.
Who it is aimed at
The activity is suitable from the age of 6; children under 18 can participate with a signed release from a responsible adult.
It is necessary to know how to swim to participate in the lesson. No previous experience is required.
Other information
The activity takes place all year round and is confirmed with a minimum of 2 participants.
Changing rooms with hot showers and a storage room for personal belongings are available at the meeting point.
The cost also includes compulsory membership of the Italian Surfing Federation (20 €).
The meeting point has free parking and is not easily accessible by public transport.
