Come and explore the archaeological site of Villa Augustea in Somma Vesuviana with a guide, then head to Cantine Olivella to round off the experience with a tasting menu paired with eight wines.
A two-and-a-half-hour experience to discover the ancient link between myths, the local area and the wines of Vesuvius!
What we will do
We will meet 10 minutes before the scheduled time at the archaeological site in Somma Vesuviana (NA), on the slopes of Vesuvius. We will be welcomed by the archaeologist guide, who will accompany us at the start of this tour.
We’ll begin with a guided tour of the archaeological site of Villa Augustea ( also known as Villa Dionisiaca) . Here, we’ll discover how the history of Cantine Olivella is deeply intertwined with this ancient site, exploring Vesuvius’s winemaking heritage through hypotheses, legends and on-site discoveries.
Afterwards, we will make our own way by car to the winery. On arrival, we will take our seats in the tasting room, which features an open-plan kitchen and a sweeping panoramic view of Mount Somma. In this space designed for conviviality, we will begin our lunch.
The tasting menu, curated by the resident chef, includes: a tasting of Cantine Olivella extra virgin olive oil accompanied by sourdough bread, a seasonal Vesuvian starter, a first course of spaghetti or broken candele pasta with Piennolo del Vesuvio PDO cherry tomatoes, and finally a dessert featuring our own Pellecchiella del Vesuvio apricot jam. To accompany the courses, we will be tasting no fewer than 8 wines:

The experience will last approximately two and a half hours in total .
Who it is aimed at
This experience is recommended for those aged 18 and over, as the wine tasting is restricted to adults only. Any accompanying minors may take part in the experience at a cost of €60. 00 for young people up to the age of 17, whilst participation is free for children up to the age of 6.
The experience is not accessible to people with mobility issues or those with pushchairs.

Dogs are not permitted at any stage of the activity.

What happens in case of bad weather?
If you have made a fixed date reservation and the weather conditions are not suitable for carrying out the activity safely (according to the expert opinion of the guide), you will be refunded the full amount paid. The guide may suggest an alternative date or time for the activity. You are free to choose whether or not to accept these suggestions. If you are unable to reschedule, we will proceed with a full refund! If you have set the date of your Gift Voucher and bad weather has prevented the activity from taking place, the Voucher remains valid until the expiry date indicated on it.
If I cancel the reservation, can I get a full refund?
