Meeting with birds of prey and night walk near Turin

Spread your wings in the world of falconry with a day of approaching birds of prey in Gassino Torinese.

The activity will begin in the afternoon with a walk in the company of buzzards and hawks, in which you will have the opportunity to observe their flight and learn how to call them on your fist.

But the real magic will happen after sunset: when you will plunge into the forest at night to discover its nocturnal animals. How will you see them? Thanks to a thermal imaging camera connected to your phone!

What we will do

We will meet in Gassino Torinese (TO), at the meeting point and time indicated during the booking process.

After welcoming the participants, we will have a briefing with the falconer to explain the activity we are going to carry out and some basic notions about birds of prey.

We will then set off on a walk of about 3 hours, accompanied by birds of prey, which we will learn to call to the fist with a glove. We will see buzzards and hawks fly, immersing ourselves in the pre-hill landscape of the province of Turin among clearings, broadleaf woods, streams and small fords.

At the end of the walk, we will return to the facility for a theoretical lesson in which we will explore aspects of the territory and its species, delving deeper into the understanding of birds of prey. Those who wish can take advantage of this time for an aperitif with white wine and typical products such as salami, olives and giardiniera (select this option when booking).

We will then set off on our night walk to discover the world of animals at night. We will go into the vegetation with a thermal camera, which will allow us to detect the heat emitted by the animals' bodies and recognise their different shapes. Each participant will be able to download anapp connected to the thermal camera onto their phone, so that they can keep track of the movements of the inhabitants of the forest.

At the end of the activity, we will return to the facility for final greetings. The experience will last approximately 8 hours.

Who it is aimed at

The activity is suitable for all persons with good mobility from the age of 10.

Minors must be accompanied by a parent.

Other information

The course is available all year round, on Saturdays or Sundays, subject to a minimum of 5 participants.

The aperitif is optional and can be added when booking by choosing the 'with aperitif' option. It is not possible to provide an alternative menu in the event of food allergies or intolerances.

The hotel has a car park and can be reached by public transport.

Pets are not allowed.
