Among the many possibilities the Ligurian Sea offers is the chance to spot dolphins or minke whales. Discover the best of the marine fauna that characterises this protected area with our motorboat excursion, departing from Savona.
The Pelagos Sanctuary stretches from the French coast to the north of Sardinia to Tuscany. It is a protected marine area in the Mediterranean where there is a massive concentration of cetaceans, thanks mainly to the abundance of food.
Accompanied by experienced spotters, you can admire many different species and learn more about their behaviour and habits. Ready to take unforgettable photos? We are waiting for you.
What we will do
We’ll meet 10 minutes before 10. 00 am at the meeting point in Savona. The crew will welcome us and help us board a motor vessel equipped with every comfort.
On this guided whale-watching cruise, we’ll enter the Pelagos Sanctuary to discover the species that inhabit it. Spotting the whales requires patient monitoring and observation of the water’s surface, bearing in mind that these are wild animals and there are no set times or locations for encountering them. The few hours’ cruise will then be rewarded by the unique thrill of spotting these magnificent creatures!
Together with expert spotters, we’ll watch an introductory video lesson on cetology and then set out in search of the common dolphin, the bottlenose dolphin, the striped dolphin, the fin whale, the sperm whale, the pilot whale, Risso’s dolphin and the beaked whale.
The route varies from time to time: depending on sightings, we may head towards Noli or Spotorno.
After about three and a half hours, we’ll return to the port of departure.
Who it is aimed at
This experience is suitable for everyone, with no age restrictions. Children under 16 must be accompanied by an adult.
The boat is wheelchair accessible: please contact the organiser using the contact details provided in your booking confirmation email to let them know if a wheelchair user will be joining the trip.

Please note! Whale sightings are likely but not guaranteed. If no whales are sighted, you will receive a voucher directly from the organiser, valid for another excursion to be used within one year.
The experience takes place from April to September.
The trip goes ahead regardless of weather and sea conditions, at the captain’s discretion. As the trip takes place some distance from the coast, it is normal to encounter rough or choppy seas.
The vessel is a motorboat equipped with toilets.
We recommend that you take the following precautions: have a light breakfast; avoid dairy products, sweet or heavy foods; if necessary, take seasickness medication approximately 2 hours before departure.
Pets are not permitted on board.
Paid parking is available on site. The meeting point is accessible by public transport.

If you have made a fixed date reservation and the weather conditions are not suitable for carrying out the activity safely (according to the expert opinion of the guide), you will be refunded the full amount paid. The guide may suggest an alternative date or time for the activity. You are free to choose whether or not to accept these suggestions. If you are unable to reschedule, we will proceed with a full refund! If you have set the date of your Gift Voucher and bad weather has prevented the activity from taking place, the Voucher remains valid until the expiry date indicated on it.
