Full description

From neophyte to (almost) expert in less than 1 hour!

Amidst the Tuscan hills of Greve in Chianti, an extra virgin olive oil tasting awaits you in which, together with a guide, you will discover professional tasting techniques for noting authentic aromas, tastes and nuances of the Chianti region!

What we will do

We’ll be meeting in Greve in Chianti, in the province of Florence, amidst the rolling Tuscan hills and the historic village, where we’ll meet our guide to begin our tour dedicated to extra virgin olive oil.

We will begin with a brief introduction to the history of the production and the local area, amidst centuries-old olive groves and typical Tuscan varieties such as Leccino, Frantoio and Moraiolo.

We’ll then move on to the practical part of the professional tasting session, using a glass designed for sensory analysis. We’ll learn to recognise aromas and intensity through our sense of smell, before moving on to a guided tasting using our sense of taste, following the correct tasting techniques.

During the experience, we will taste six different types of extra virgin olive oil, noting down the main characteristics on a simple and intuitive technical sheet. The guide will show us how to interpret the differences between the various oils; between tastings, we will be provided with water, bread and a green apple to cleanse the palate.

The experience will last approximately 45 minutes .
