Full description
Discover the breathtaking beauty of the Lao River gorges on board an inflatable rafting canyon experience.
After an initial briefing with your guide, you will prepare for a 16-km-long descent past high cliffs, waterfalls, and lush vegetation, in an unspoilt and beautiful landscape near Laino Borgo.
At the end of the activity you can decide whether to stop at the refreshment area to rest, eat something, and relive the best moments of the descent with your fellow adventurers.
What we will do
We will meet in Laino Borgo (CS ) to board the shuttles that will take us to the point on the Lao river where we will begin our descent.
After a 5-10 minute transfer we will arrive at our destination and be ready to listen to our guide's briefing. We will learn the basic safety rules to keep in the water and beyond.
Our descent will begin at the foot of the town of Laino Borgo. It is a 16-km course through the gorges of the Pollino National Park's most important river. We will tackle the descent aboard our rafts, which can carry from 1 to 6 passengers in addition to the guide.
The route will be very fascinating, with high rock walls forming a truly spectacular canyon. We will encounter the gorges after about 2 km and will be able to immerse ourselves in a unique landscape, characterised by springs that flow into the river forming small waterfalls. With our rubber dinghy we will also arrive at the Malomo waterfall, the most impressive on the river with its curtain of water falling from the rock.
In the last part of the route, the landscape will change completely, giving way to more lush vegetation and small beaches. It will take about three hours to complete the descent.
At the end of the activity we will disembark at another rafting centre, where we will find toilets, showers, a bar and a restaurant; for those who wish, it will be possible to stop and have something to eat by reservation. The shuttle will then take us back to Laino Borgo in about 40 minutes.
The activity has a total duration of 4.5 hours, including transfer and pre-descent briefing.
Who it is aimed at
The activity is intended for persons of good physical health and good aquatic skills, aged 14 and over.
Minors may also participate on their own, provided they have a release form signed by their parent.
Other information
The activity is available from March to November and is confirmed with a minimum of 2 participants.
At the disembarkation point, participants will find a centre equipped with toilets, changing rooms, bar and restaurant. Those wishing to stop at the restaurant can contact the organisers for reservations at the contact details given in the confirmation email.
Photos of the experience, which will be shared via email, can be purchased on site at an additional cost of 40€ per raft.

What happens in case of bad weather?
If you have made a fixed date reservation and the weather conditions are not suitable for the safe conduct of the activity (in the expert opinion of the guide), you will be refunded the full amount paid. The guide may suggest an alternative date or time for you to conduct the activity. You can freely choose whether or not to accept these proposals. If you can’t retrieve it, we will process a full refund! If you have set the date for your Gift Voucher and bad weather did not allow the activity to take place, the Voucher remains regularly valid until the expiration date indicated on it.
If I cancel the reservation, can I get a full refund?
For this activity, the cancellation policy is flexible. You get a full refund if you cancel within 5 days from the activity start date. Within 4 and 3 days from the activity start date you will get a 50% refund. You can find the full policies in the Cancellation Policy section.
