Full description

Climb aboard an inflatable boat and experience the pure fun of a soft rafting descent down the Lao river in Calabria.

The activity is also suitable for children and families because it does not present any particular difficulties. The first kilometres of the river, in fact, will alternate small rapids with really calm stretches. You will thus be able to enjoy nature and the surrounding landscape and become familiar with rafting.

The last part of the descent will be more animated, with exciting jumps and rapids to paddle through, always in the company of your guide. You will thus have the perfect rafting experience to break the ice with this sport.

What we will do

We will meet in Laino Borgo (CS ) to catch the shuttles that will take us to the point on the Lao river where we will put our dinghies in the water. The shuttle ride will take about 5 minutes.

Once at our destination, we will have a short briefing with the guide who will explain the safety rules and how to behave in the water. Once the explanation is over, we will get ready by wearing a helmet and life jacket.

On board an inflatable boat that can carry 2 to 6 people in addition to the guide, we will tackle a stretch of river about 4 km long. It will be an easy and fun ride, particularly suitable for family outings with children.

During the descent we will be immersed in a lush landscape, with the river alternating between small rapids and calmer stretches. We will thus enjoy a really soft first stage of rafting, during which we will become familiar with the water and the paddling technique.

The Lao river is the most important watercourse in the Pollino National Park and has its source in Serra del Prete, a massif 2,181 metres above sea level. Before flowing into the Tyrrhenian Sea, the river crosses a truly unspoilt territory, which we will be able to get a good taste of on board our dinghy.

The second part of the route will be more eventful, with small jumps and rapids that will make the activity even more enjoyable. It will take about one hour to complete the descent, after which we will return to the starting point.

The activity lasts a total of 2 hours, including transfers and the briefing.
