Full description
Treat yourself to a fantastic snorkelling experience in the Portoferraio nature reserve on the Island of Elba.
You will reach the dive spot by boat together with an expert skipper. Once you have your snorkelling kit on, you will swim around the Scoglietto area populated by extraordinary marine fauna and flora, preserved by the fishing ban that has been in force for years.
Have fun spotting algae and colourful porifera and recognising the fish in the numerous shoals. You will have the chance to observe snappers, scorpion fish, groupers and more and swim with them for about an hour and a half. We are waiting for you!
What we will do
We will meet near Portoferraio, where the boat will be waiting for us. We will also meet the skipper who will supervise the excursion.
Once on board, it will take about 15 minutes before we reach the dive site. We will also be provided with a snorkelling kit which includes fins, mask and snorkel (included in the fee).
The boat will take us to the Portoferraio marine reserve in the Scoglietto area. This is a stretch of sea characterised by a landslide that gently slopes down to a sandy bottom. Thanks to the creation of the marine park and the imposition of the fishing ban, in force for 40 years now, this stretch of sea holds many surprises in store for us.
Around the Scoglietto, in fact, we will be able to spot numerous groupings of snappers, scorpion fish, moray eels, groupers, octopuses and nudibranches. Along the landslide, we will then be able to see various species of algae and colourful porifera and bryozoans. Equipped with our mask, we will be able to open our eyes to an extraordinary marine window by swimming independently, while the skipper will supervise us from the boat.
Once we have completed our swim around the Scoglietto, we will take the boat back to our starting point. The whole experience lasts about 2 hours.
Who it is aimed at
The activity is aimed at everyone over the age of 6.
Swimming ability is necessary, but in case of uncertainty in the water it will be possible to use the buoy.
