Full description
If you love snow and winter passages , you cannot miss the Brigante snowshoe hike in the heart of the Abruzzo National Park.
On the borders of what was once the Papal States and the Kingdom of Naples, there will be tales of brigands and stories of bears and wolves.
Live a magical experience immersed in snowy nature. We are waiting for you!
What we will do
We will meet near Opi (AQ), 10 minutes before the time selected during the booking process. On arrival, the guide will give us a briefing on the route and hand over the snowshoes (included).
Afterwards, we will set off on the snowshoe hike. We will be moving right on the border between Lazio and Abruzzo, in the area that once divided the Papal State and the Kingdom of Naples, through forests, such as that of Forca d'Acero, beech forests, such as that of Valle Fredda, large clearings and spectacular geological formations.
We will search for tracks and footprints left in the snow by the wild animals that populate the park. We will visit the inghiottitoi, chasms typical of karstic terrain where surface water drains away, and the cave of the brigands. This area has been the scene of battles between brigands and Piedmontese, in particular we will hear the story of Ferdinando Leone, who smuggled goods into the area.
The 4 km route, with an elevation gain of 200 m, does not present any technical difficulties: it takes place on medium-mountain paths, in wooded areas and flat pastures, with medium gradients in ascents and descents.
After approximately 3 hours, we return to the starting point.

The activity is suitable for everyone over the age of 6.
Other information
The activity takes place from December to April, depending on snow and weather conditions.
The itinerary may be subject to change due to environmental and weather conditions.
On request, it will be possible to have a tasting of typical savoury products (cheese, cold meats and a glass of wine) or sweets (chocolate, pastry...) about halfway along the route at an extra cost of €5 (payable locally).
Dogs are allowed.
