Full description
Are you in Abruzzo and love snow but skiing is not your thing? Discover the charm of snowshoeing in the beautiful Ceppo resort!
You can explore the snow-covered woodsthat characterise the area during the winter, admire enchanting landscapes at an altitude of 1,800 m and listen to some anecdotes about the history of the area.
The silence that surrounds you will bring you in touch with nature and give you a magnificent sense of peace!
What we will do
We will meet at the meeting point in Rocca Santa Maria (TE), where our environmental hiking guide will be waiting for us.
We will begin with a briefing of about 15 minutes, during which we will be given thenecessary equipment (included) and explained how to walk correctly on snowshoes. Once we are ready, we will set out on the route and start snowshoeing.
The route, which is about 11 km with 500 m of altitude difference, will include some wooded sections and will allow us to explore part of the Ceppo locality. The area is very interesting due to the great biodiversity found there and for having been the scene of one of the conflicts of World War II. On the horizon we will be able to admire the magnificent peaks of the Gran Sasso massif and we will be surrounded by a very impressive snowy landscape.
The guide will stop from time to time to allow us to rest and tell us some anecdotes about the history of the area. He will also point out some footprints and tracks marking the passage of the roe deer that inhabit the area. During the hike we will make a longer stop, of about 15 minutes, to refresh ourselves with a snack (not included) and at the halfway point we will stop for about 30 minutes for a packed lunch (not included). Then, having regained our energy, we will conclude the snowshoe hike.
The experience, which will end with the return to the starting point, will last a total of five hours, of which three and a half hours will be spent on snowshoes.
