Visiting the highest volcano in Tuscany in the middle of winter?
Well yes, with a fantastic snowshoe hike on Monte Amiata, up to 1738 m! An incredible destination, dotted with frozen lakes, snow-covered slopes and white beech forests.
Admire the small mountain chalets and the tracks of forest animals, letting yourself be guided on a 6-hour snowshoe hike full of views and emotions. And from the top of the mountain, enjoy the sunset before heading back down to the valley after a hot chocolate or a bombardino.
What we will do
We will meet up near Monte Amiata (AR) at 10:00 a.m., ready to meet the guide and get fully equipped for our daily snowshoe hike. After introductions and a briefing on the route (9 km, with a maximum altitude difference of 500 m), it will be time to set off towards the summit of Monte Amiata.
We will immediately enter one of the snowy beech forests we encounter along the way, where we can admire the unspoilt nature and listen to the sounds of the forest in winter.
Halfway along, we will have a packed lunch surrounded by snow (lunch not included and to be brought from home). After passing through the beech forests, we will be able to see the many frozen lakes and snow-covered slopes that make the mountain particularly impressive.
Last uphill stretch to an altitude of 1738 m, the summit of Monte Amiata! Here we can enjoy a hot chocolate or a bombardino offered by the guide.
The sun will begin to set over the Tyrrhenian Sea, one of the most exciting moments of our day. And to descend, we will set off on an alternative route in the footsteps of the wolf, taking care not to disturb these wonderful animals.
We will arrive at the starting point in the late afternoon after six hours of snowshoeing.
Who it is aimed at
The activity is of medium level and is aimed at everyone from 14 years of age. Moderate walking ability required.
Other information
The activity takes place on weekends from December to March and is confirmed with a minimum of 6 participants.
Important: the guide will contact you within 48 hours of the start of the activity to confirm the meeting point.
Dogs are not allowed.

If you have made a fixed date reservation and the weather conditions are not suitable for carrying out the activity safely (according to the expert opinion of the guide), you will be refunded the full amount paid. The guide may suggest an alternative date or time for the activity. You are free to choose whether or not to accept these suggestions. If you are unable to reschedule, we will proceed with a full refund! If you have set the date of your Gift Voucher and bad weather has prevented the activity from taking place, the Voucher remains valid until the expiry date indicated on it.
If I cancel the reservation, can I get a full refund?
