Full description
Ciak ciak ciak! If you hear this sound, they are not shooting a film: it's snowshoes under your feet!
Join a snowshoe hike in the Monti Simbruini park, up to the summit of Monte Autore. Starting from Livata, you will imprint in your eyes the beauty of the majestic beech forests and whitewashed meadows.
4 hours of adventure to feel like the protagonist of winter!
What we will do
We will meet 15 minutes before 9am at the meeting point in Livata (RM), where our environmental hiking guides will be waiting for us. Before setting off, they will give us the necessary equipment (snowshoes and poles) and hold a briefing of about 20 minutes to teach us how to snowshoe correctly and explain the itinerary.
We will set off from the locality of Monna dell'Orso (1620 m) for a beautiful Apennine snowshoe hike with a loop itinerary. We will cross the snow-covered meadows and magnificent beech forests that characterise the first part of the route.
We will then tackle an agile ascent to the snow-covered peak of Monte Autore (1855 m), among the highest peaks of the Simbruini Mountains. Here we will pause for about 30 minutes to enjoy the amazing 360° panoramic view, which will sweep over all the mountain groups of the Central Apennines.
On the way back, we will devote ourselves to some pleasant off-trail excursions that will allow us to admire lesser-known corners of the park. Dense, shady beech forests will accompany us on the last part of the route, until we return to the starting point.
The snowshoe hike will be 6 km long, with an altitude difference of 260 metres and a duration of around 4 hours, 3 and a half of which will be spent snowshoeing.
