Full description
Be enchanted by the breathtaking view from 2000 metres above sea level by taking part in a half-day snowshoe hike on the Maielletta. An experienced guide will lead you along an 8 km route of medium difficulty.
From Pretoro, you will climb with snowshoes on your feet up to the Maielletta ridge and stop to observe a wonderful panorama from the Rifugio Pomilio, at an altitude of 1888 metres. Your gaze will embrace a panorama that includes the Adriatic Sea on one side and the Maiella mountain range on the other, immersed in the muffled silence of the mountains.

What we will do
The rendezvous is 10 minutes before 8.30 a.m. in Pretoro (CH), where the guide will be waiting for us, who will accompany us along the route up to 2000 metres. We will test ourselves on a route approximately 8 km long and with an altitude difference of around 400 metres.
After handing over our snowshoes and poles (included), we will set off on the hike. We will hike along mountain paths until we reach the historic Rifugio Pomilio, located at an altitude of 1888 metres. We will face a wonderful natural path, immersed in the silence and enchantment of the mountain landscape.
Once at the refuge, we will enjoy a truly exceptional panorama. The view will go from the sea to the mountain: we will have the Adriatic Sea on one side and Mount Camicia and Mount Prena on the other. On clear days, the view reaches as far as Monte Conero and the Gargano.
If the weather is favourable and the paths passable, we will leave the refuge and continue on to the Madonnina della Neve in Blockhaus, where the panorama becomes even more impressive thanks to the Vallone di Santo Spirito di Fara San Martino.
We will then retrace our route back to the starting point. The snowshoe hike lasts a total of about 4 ½ hours.

The snowshoe hike is scheduled on scheduled dates and is confirmed with a minimum of 4 participants.
The itinerary may vary depending on weather conditions and the practicability of the trails.
Dogs are not allowed for safety reasons.
