Full description
Have you ever seen the beauty of the stars and how close they seem when you look up in the mountains?
Snowshoeing under the stars is the experience you are looking for if you want to experience the magic of the mountains in winter. And the white expanses of Mount Terminillo are the ideal destination to put on your snowshoes and test yourself with this white night adventure!
Imagine walking on the white slopes that gradually change colour as dusk falls, the sun setting and torches being lit to illuminate you in an even more evocative and exciting setting. You will admire the stars, listen to the stories of our solar system, try to orient yourself by recognising the many constellations in the sky.
And then what better destination after a snowshoe hike at night than a mountain hut and the warmth of the stove for dinner with friends?
What we will do
We begin our snowshoe hike by meeting our guide at 16:00 at the meeting point in Pian de' Valli.
Time for a brief introduction, we put on our snowshoes and set off on our tour, which covers 6 km (300 m of altitude difference) among gentle slopes, snow-covered forests and amazing viewpoints overlooking the main mountains of central Italy.
In fact, Monte Terminillo is an incredible viewpoint from which we will be able to admire the many peaks looming around it and also others farther away in the distance.
The best part of our snowshoe hike is coming as the sun begins to set and the white of the snow gives way to the dark of the sky, which is filled with stars. Here the panorama changes, the sensations too. Everything is more evocative, the senses and perceptions around us receive new stimuli.
We raise our eyes to recognise the constellations, we listen to the stories of the solar system, we marvel at theimmensity of the sky. Now that the sun has set and we are halfway through our tour, it is time to use the torches we have with us. The snow no longer illuminates the landscape and we must be careful to follow the line and our companions towards our next destination.
We listen to the many hints that our guide will reveal to us step by step, as we make our way towards The Little Alpine Hut, which we will reach by about 7.30 p.m. Here, the warmth of the stove and a dinner with typical products awaits us (starter, first course, main course and side dish, drinks included), which will refresh us after this intense walk in the snow.
Between the briefing, snowshoe hike and dinner, the experience will last approximately 4 hours and will end with the return to the starting point.
Who it is aimed at
The snowshoe hike is suitable for everyone from 6 years old and up.
