Full description
Two days. Zero shortcuts. Just you and nature.
In the 2-day survival course in the Simbruini Mountains you will learn how to build a shelter, build a fire without a lighter, find drinking water, find your way around by day and night, read environmental signs and send out a distress call even without Wi-Fi.
Among shady beech forests, hidden clearings lit only by the moon, you will not only discover how to survive in nature. You will discover how much you can really rely on yourself.
What we will do
The appointment with the instructor is at 9.30 a.m. in Livata (RM), in the heart of the Simbruini Mountains. A quick pit stop for a coffee and a greeting to the civilised world, then it's off to base camp. We will be immersed in a mid-mountain environment, surrounded by beech forests, shady glades and landscapes that look like something out of an old western film.
Once we get there, it will be time to get our hands dirty: we will learn how to handle knives and blades safely, how to create useful knots and ties, how to build an emergency shelter and how to build a fire without a lighter. And more: techniques for drinking water and basic rules of behaviour in wild environments.
In the evening, we will consume the emergency food provided in the kit (just the kind used in missions abroad!) and we will try our hand at a night orientation session: moon and stars will guide our steps. Back at the camp, we will sleep in the shelters we have built with our own hands.
The following morning, new challenges await us! We will delve into theart of knots, learn to recognise edible plants and animal tracks, and tackle advanced orientation to understand how to reach civilisation even from isolated places. We will discover how to send emergency signals and organise basic self-rescue.
In the afternoon we will set off again to return to our starting point, bringing with us not only new skills, but also many stories to tell. The whole experience lasts two days.
Who it is aimed at
The experience is suitable for everyone from the age of 16. Children under the age of 18 must be accompanied on site by an adult.
