Full description
Asinara is not just an island, it is a little world apart. And you will explore it in style aboard an elegant 9.20 m long catamaran with nets at the bow where you can lie in the sun.
The day's programme? Stops at dreamy coves, clear water perfect for snorkelling, and a trip ashore at Cala Reale to visit the sea turtle recovery centre. All topped off with an aperitif with tagliere and a lunch of fregola, Sardinian wine and myrtle.
Asinara will steal your heart... and never give it back.
What we will do
Departure is at 9:30 a.m. from Stintino (meeting point 15 minutes beforehand). Once all participants have boarded theIroquois 32 catamaran , we will be ready to set sail! Accompanying us will be an experienced skipper and an official guide from the Asinara Park, ready to tell us curiosities and stories about this corner of Sardinia.
We will sail to Cala Reale, a small historic village on Asinara that once housed the lazaret and is now one of the island's liveliest centres. Here you can choose to visit the CRAMA Sea Turtle Rescue Centre and the Museum of Plastics . This will be a guided tour of about 1½ hours.
Then we will head towards the east coast of the island: we will stop in at least 3 dreamy bays, chosen according to weather conditions between Cala Rosario, Cala degli Inglesi, Cala d'Oliva and Cala dei Fornelli. In these bays the water is so transparent that you will already see the seabed from the boat.
Around midday we will stop in one of the bays for an aperitif with a platter of cured meats and local products, and then have lunch on board: fregola with crab sauce (or with meat sauce for those who don't eat fish, and with "scalzo" sauce for vegetarians). To drink Vermentino di Sardegna, water, soft drinks, and to close, coffee and myrtle.
We will spend the afternoon at the sea, diving and snorkelling. We will return to port at around 17:30, with salt still on our skin and all the shades of blue of Asinara in our eyes.
