Kayaking lesson and tour between Valdadige and Valpolicella

Experience the thrill of a river descent aboard a kayak. We will follow the last kilometres travelled by the Adige River in Valdadige, when it flows embraced by the mountains before turning east and heading towards Verona and the sea.

An instructor will accompany you throughout the activity, giving you a lesson in the basic techniques of river canoeing, showing you the correct paddling motion and the correct behaviour to adopt in the river.

We will learn how to steer the kayak through simple rapids alternating with stretches where the river flows calmly. Stream swimming and games will be the icing on the cake of our tour.

Don't worry if you've never picked up a paddle before: we'll provide you with all the knowledge you need to carry out the experience safely. We'll take care of the equipment, all you have to do is have fun while you discover lots of interesting facts about the area!

What we will do

We will meet at the time agreed at the time of booking at the indicated meeting point in Dolcè, a few kilometres from Verona.

Before boarding the kayaks we will hold a short briefing in which we will explain the safety rules to be observed and the paddling technique. Meanwhile, we will provide you with all the necessary equipment: life jacket, paddle, kayak.

We will then embark. We will follow a stretch where the river flows calmly, but there will be more adrenalin-fuelled stretches where we will tackle the rapids with paddling strokes.

As we discover the landscapes of the Valdadige, we will tell you many historical anecdotes about the valley and the wartime exploits fought in the area. We will play at recognising the numerous Austro-Hungarian forts hidden in the vegetation and perched on sheer cliffs overlooking the river, and we will discover many curiosities about the river.

We willcover 9 km during which we will also cross the spectacular Ceraino canyon, a place where the mountains fall sheer to the river, creating a narrow gorge. We will enter the Valpolicella and cover the last stretch of our route. We will also get out of the kayak to swim in the current.

We will disembark at the 15th-century Villa del Bene in Volargne. From here, we will accompany those driving the cars to pick them up at the starting point.

The descent lasts approximately 2 hours, which may vary depending on the water level. The whole experience, including briefing and transfers, lasts a total of 3 hours.

Who it is aimed at

The activity is aimed at everyone aged 5 and up. No technical skills are necessary. The experience is particularly suitable as a first approach to the sport of river kayaking.

Other information

The experience takes place on Tuesdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays from May to September and is confirmed when there are at least four participants.

If conditions permit, the guides will take photos and videos during the descent and at the end of the day will send them free of charge via AirDrop, e-mail or Whatsapp.

Watertight bags will be provided to hold any valuables, while bulky backpacks and bags will be kept at the facility and can be collected at the end of the experience.

There are toilets at the facility, but no showers. There is ample parking near the meeting point.

The kayaks are two-seater.

The duration and length of the tour may vary slightly due to the water level in the river, but you will be notified before the start of the descent.
