In Basilicata there is a beautiful stretch of coastline overlooking the Tyrrhenian Sea. The pearl of this area is Maratea, a beautiful town that rises between the sea and the mountains in the Gulf of Policastro. A natural paradise of fine sandy beaches alternating with rocky cliffs and incredible caves.
With our two-hour kayak tour you will experience the magic of entering the ravines of the caves and tunnels that can only be reached by sea. Together with an experienced instructor, you will visit four caves starting from Maratea's striking Black Beach, famous for the characteristic colouring of its volcanic sand.
The kayaking experience is ideal for sea and wilderness enthusiasts who want to discover the secrets of the Maratea coastline. The Pearl of the Tyrrhenian Sea is waiting for you!
What we will do
After meeting up at Cala Jannita in Maratea, the guide will give participants a briefing on how best to use the kayak.
We will set off immediately towards the Grotta del Bacio (Kiss Cave ) and, once we reach it, we can either enter directly into the kayak or leave the canoe in the "Funnico Regio", a natural inlet with a Caribbean flavour where you can swim. We will also visit the suggestive Grotta della Sciabella and the Grotta Bucata which, once we have passed the narrow entrance, will surprise us with its spacious interior.
At this point we will turn back towards the beach of I Vranne, a tongue of fine, dark sand, characterised by a rocky and rather jagged coastline. We will swim to the shoreline for a short walk and visit Giorgio's cave, a tunnel over the sea that is really rich in fish. Afterwards, we will taste the wild fennel that gives Maratea its name.
During the excursion, the guide will make a few stops to tell the story of Maratea, born on a mountain that plunges into the sea. The activity will last a total of 2 hours.

The experience is suitable for everyone over the age of 6.
Swimming skills are required.
Other information
Single, double and triple canoes are available. Up to four people can fit in a single canoe: two adults and two children, subject to availability. For safety reasons, the instructor will assign the most suitable type of canoe to each group of participants, based on their weight.
Please arrive at least 30 minutes before the activity starts.
The experience is bookable from April to October and is confirmed once 2 participants are reached.
Showers are available a short distance from the meeting point (1€) at the lidos.

What happens in case of bad weather?
If you have made a fixed date reservation and the weather conditions are not suitable for carrying out the activity safely (according to the expert opinion of the guide), you will be refunded the full amount paid. The guide may suggest an alternative date or time for the activity. You are free to choose whether or not to accept these suggestions. If you are unable to reschedule, we will proceed with a full refund! If you have set the date of your Gift Voucher and bad weather has prevented the activity from taking place, the Voucher remains valid until the expiry date indicated on it.
If I cancel the reservation, can I get a full refund?
For this activity, the cancellation policy is flexible. You get a full refund if you cancel within 5 days from the activity start date. Within 4 and 3 days from the activity start date you will get a 50% refund. You can find the full policies in the Cancellation Policy section.
