An experience of a thousand nuances. Or rather, of a thousand veins.
Take part in our guided tour to discover the marble of Carrara: together with a tour guide, you will visit a marble quarry and an art workshop, delving into the process from the extraction of the block to its transformation into a work of art.
A 2-hour experience, at the end of which marble will have no more secrets!
What we will do
The appointment is 5 minutes before the selected time at the meeting point in Carrara (MS) . On site, we will meet the tour leader who will accompany us to discover the marble of Carrara!
Having gathered all the participants, the escort will present the visit programme. We will then each board our own vehicle and drive through the scenic setting of the marble quarries until we reach our destination. Once parked, only a few steps separate us from the guided tour of the marble quarry. In the open air, surrounded by huge blocks of stone, we will listen to the escort's narration and learn more about the history of the quarry, the extraction process and the characteristics of marble. This part lasts about 40 minutes.
We will then return to our vehicle to return to the meeting point and continue with the guided tour of the art workshop: inside, surrounded by real works of art, we will discover the process of transformation from block of marble to sculpture. This part lasts approximately 40 minutes.
The total duration of the experience is approximately 2 hours.
Who it is aimed at
The experience is suitable for everyone without age limits. Children under 16 must be accompanied by an adult participant. Children aged 0 to 5 years participate free of charge: please contact the organiser at the contact details given in your booking confirmation email to indicate their presence.
The experience is accessible by wheelchair and pushchair. The route to the quarry is cobbled; the route to the art workshop includes a step at the entrance.

Attention! The experience requires transfers by own vehicle. The drive to and from the marble quarry-art workshop takes approx. 15-25 minutes each way. The car journey is on an asphalt road with an 18% gradient; the car park at the marble quarry is cobbled.
The experience takes place from March to October and is confirmed upon reaching a minimum number of 2 participants.
The experience may take place simultaneously in Italian and English. The tour leader will present the information first in one language and then in the other.
Depending on the day of the experience, you may or may not see workers at work at the marble quarry and the art workshop.
Leashed dogs are allowed: please contact the organiser at the contact details given in your booking confirmation e-mail to indicate the presence of your four-legged friend.
Free parking is available on site. The meeting point can be reached by public transport.

If you have made a fixed date reservation and the weather conditions are not suitable for carrying out the activity safely (according to the expert opinion of the guide), you will be refunded the full amount paid. The guide may suggest an alternative date or time for the activity. You are free to choose whether or not to accept these suggestions. If you are unable to reschedule, we will proceed with a full refund! If you have set the date of your Gift Voucher and bad weather has prevented the activity from taking place, the Voucher remains valid until the expiry date indicated on it.
