Are you passionate about walking and nature? Live a unique experience in the heart of Basilicata with our 3-hour trekking tour.
In the company of an experienced guide, you will explore the Parco dei Monaci, a place of great historical and cultural significance, located in a dominant position over the Bradano valley, with settlements dating back to the Bronze Age.
This area was an important crossroads in the past, as evidenced by the numerous archaeological finds in the area. You will be able to walk in nature, discover the fauna and flora of the area, explore prehistoric caves and rock churches carved into the mountainside.
We look forward toa unique and evocative experience between nature and history.
What we will do
We will meet with the guide in Matera at the time selected during the booking process. Once the group is formed, we will reach by shuttle bus Parco dei Monaci, which is located in a very picturesque spot close to the Gravina di Matera, 5 km south of the town.
We will walk through nature in the company of a local guide to learn more about the flora and fauna of the area, as well as thefascinating history of these places.
We will visit the nearby Palaeolithic village of "Saraceno" with its ancient caves, and the cave churches of "Cristo la Selva", carved out of the mountainside. After about two hours of walking for a total of 4 km, we will return to the city centre by shuttle bus.
The experience will last about three hours in total.

If you have made a fixed date reservation and the weather conditions are not suitable for the safe conduct of the activity (in the expert opinion of the guide), you will be refunded the full amount paid. The guide may suggest an alternative date or time for you to conduct the activity. You can freely choose whether or not to accept these proposals. If you can’t retrieve it, we will process a full refund! If you have set the date for your Gift Voucher and bad weather did not allow the activity to take place, the Voucher remains regularly valid until the expiration date indicated on it.
If I cancel the reservation, can I get a full refund?
For this activity, the cancellation policy is flexible. You get a full refund if you cancel within 5 days from the activity start date. Within 4 and 3 days from the activity start date you will get a 50% refund. You can find the full policies in the Cancellation Policy section.
