The Stray Dogs Ski and Snowboard School is located at Polle di Riolunato, in the Monte Cimone district, and is staffed by highly qualified instructors. Full description
Visit the Valle delle Tagliole on a day's trek along its paths, past mountain lakes, imposing peaks and high-altitude meadows. Discover theTuscan-Emilian Apennines on the border between the two regions and experience a regenerating day of sport and nature.
Together with an environmental guide, you will walk theRing of the Apennine Glacial Lakes, crossing no less than four lakes, with the chance to catch a glimpse of the many wild animals that live in this area.
You will immerse yourself in a landscape with alpine features, reaching an altitude of almost 2,000 m and stopping at the most suggestive points to contemplate the panorama. An excursion to be enjoyed in peace and quiet, perhaps with the whole family or with your best four-legged friend on a leash!
What we will do
We will meet at 9 a.m. in Pievepelago (MO), near a free car park. We will meet the guide and the rest of the group and, after a briefing, set off on our day's trek. We will walk along a wonderful route that, after about 8 km, will take us back to our starting point, having covered a ring with breathtaking views of the Apennine ridges on the border between the provinces of Modena and Lucca.
The first of the four lakes we will discover will be Lago Santo Modenese, set at the foot of Monte Giovo, one of the highest peaks of the Tuscan-Emilian Apennines at 1,991 m. Then, following an easy path, we reach Lake Baccio, with the ridge of the Grotta Rosa reflected in its waters.
We will find ourselves in the presence of Monte Rondinaio (1,964 m) and, following a path along its slopes, we will arrive at Lake Torbido, so called because of its peculiar black bottom. The lake is formed as a result of melting snow, so it is only visible at certain times of the year, but the scenery all around is always stunning!
Through a gentle descent, amidst grassy expanses and wild raspberries, we reach the enchanted Turchino Lake, famous for the colour of its waters. Here a photo stop is a must!
The route, with its 8 km in length and 500 m in altitude difference, will offer us unforgettable views of the Tagliole Valley and the most important peaks of the Frignano Park. Return to Pievepelago is scheduled for 15:00.
Who it is aimed at
This activity is of an easy level and is suitable for the whole family. You only need to be used to walking on mountain trails.

Attention! Please arrive at least 15 minutes before the start time.
The activity takes place on weekends from May to October and is confirmed when there are at least 2 participants.
There are several stops along the way, including one for a packed lunch.
Dogs on a leash are allowed and it is possible to deposit one's personal belongings at the venue before departure.

What happens in case of bad weather?
If you have made a fixed date reservation and the weather conditions are not suitable for the safe conduct of the activity (in the expert opinion of the guide), you will be refunded the full amount paid. The guide may suggest an alternative date or time for you to conduct the activity. You can freely choose whether or not to accept these proposals. If you can’t retrieve it, we will process a full refund! If you have set the date for your Gift Voucher and bad weather did not allow the activity to take place, the Voucher remains regularly valid until the expiration date indicated on it.
If I cancel the reservation, can I get a full refund?
For this activity, the cancellation policy is moderate. You get a full refund if you cancel within 8 days from the activity start date. Within 7 and 5 days from the activity start date you will get a 50% refund. You can find the full policies in the Cancellation Policy section.
