Full description

Walk the immense grasslands of the Gran Sasso with a trekking tour to Campo Pericoli, the enormous amphitheatre of Corno Grande and admire the highest peaks of the Apennines.

Together with an expert guide, you will walk a 7 km ring-route through flower-filled meadows, slopes and incredible views.

An opportunity to discover the beauty ofAbruzzo and come into contact with a natural environment full of surprises, which is the habitat of many wild animals.

What we will do

We will set off at 9.30 a.m . from Campo Imperatore in the province of L'Aquila. After a brief introductory briefing, we will take the path that cuts through Monte Portella and leads us to Passo del Lupo, where we will have a spectacular view of Abruzzo's capital city.

We will continue on our way to Campo Pericoli, a basin of glacial origin located at an altitude of 2000 metres. We will descend along a path with about 200 metres of altitude difference , stopping at the Garibaldi refuge, where we will take a break to recover our energy.

We will then ascend the valley to the Monte Aquila saddle, surrounded by the peaks of the massif, among which will stand out to our left the Corno Grande, the highest peak in the Apennines at 2,912 metres.

If we are lucky, we may encounter deer, roe deer, foxes and eagles, and the guide who will accompany us will not fail to provide descriptions, information and stories about this fascinating area.

The loop trail will be about 7 km in total, with a maximum altitude difference of 400 m. The activity will last approximately 4.5 hours and will end with the return to the starting point.
