Full description
Discover one of the most spectacular canyons in central-southern Italy with a trekking route to the Gole di Celano, in the Sirente-Velino regional natural park.
Together with an expert guide, you will venture through the deep gorges carved by the Rio La Foce, walking along the river bed in a very suggestive natural environment.
Along the way, you will have the chance to encounter wild animals and fully immerse yourself in the unspoilt wilderness of Abruzzo.
What we will do
The meeting with the guide is at 9:00 a.m. at Foci in Celano (AQ). After forming the group and holding an introductory briefing, we will set off on our hike.
We will walk along the Rio La Foce riverbed, crossing the narrow gorges that the torrent has carved out over the centuries. The rock walls are very close together and at their highest point reach a height of 200 m, creating plays of light and chiaroscuro.
The route runs deep into nature, with the possibility of observing a lot of vegetation and, with a bit of luck, wild animals such as deer, foxes and birds of prey. Before returning to the starting point, we will pass the Fonte degli Innamorati, a beautiful waterfall at an altitude of 1,030 metres.
In total, the activity lasts about 4.5 hours for an easy route suitable for everyone of 10 km in length, with 250 m of altitude difference.
