Trekking tour with night in a tent in the mountains of Valmalenco

Treat yourself to a day in the mountains and experience sleeping in a tent under the stars.

After a short briefing, you will set off on your first 6 km hike through the beautiful alpine landscape. Once you arrive at the camp area, you will pitch your tent with your hiking companions and prepare for dinner. You will cook using food and a stove and, when night falls, you will sleep in your tent surrounded by the silence of the mountains.

When you wake up the next morning, you will have a nice breakfast, take down your tents and set out again for the Pizzo Scalino area. You will walk a second 6 km route through green meadows with grazing cows. We are waiting for you!

What we will do

The meeting is at 15:00 in Franscia, a hamlet of Lanzada (SO ) at an altitude of 1500 metres. Once everyone has gathered, we will have a small briefing to prepare for our activity.

We will then start the first of our trekking routes. The route is 6 km long (about 2 hours) and will take us to the camp area. We will walk along a particularly impressive mountain section and fill our eyes with the breathtaking view of the Alpine landscape.

When we reach our destination, we will set up our tent for the night and prepare for dinner. We will eat under the stars, cooking the meal using all the equipment we brought with us in our rucksacks.

When night falls, we will have the wonderful experience of sleeping under the stars in our tents, enjoying the silence of the mountains and the company of other hikers.

When we wake up the next morning, we will prepare breakfast, take down our tents and pack our backpacks.

The second part of the trek is a 6-km-long route that winds its way through the Pizzo Scalino area, one of the marvellous peaks of the Bernina Alps whose pointed summit resembles a pyramid. We cross a landscape characterised by many green valleys with grazing cows.

After a couple of hours of walking, we return to the starting point in France.

The two sections to be hiked are each about 6 km long and have a difficulty level of E (hiking) with an altitude difference of 550 metres.

Who it is aimed at

The hike is suitable for everyone from 8 years old and up.

Other information

The activity is held from the end of June to the end of August. The guide always checks the weather conditions to confirm or vary the itinerary according to the forecast.

The excursion is confirmed when there are at least three participants.

As an alternative to dinner at the camp, it will be possible to book dinner at Rifugio Cristina at Alpe Prabello. If interested, please contact the guide well in advance to check availability at the hut.

Recommended clothing

• Light trekking boots or trail shoes if participants are used to wearing them
• Technical T-shirt
• Jumper or fleece
• Lightweight primaloft jacket
• Shell, k-way or waterproof windproof jacket
• Cap or earmuff
• Cap and sunglasses
• Long trousers for the evening

Don't forget to bring

• Sleeping bag + self-inflating mattress
• Minimum 40-litre hiking backpack
• Wool socks and a cotton T-shirt for the night
• Sun cream
• Snacks and/or energy bars
• Supplies for dinner and breakfast
• Front stack
• Personal hygiene kit and any daily medication
• Water (1 litre)
• Possible cookers, dishes and various pots and pans
