Full description
Walk the route between the granite ridges of the mountains in the Seven Brothers Park with an experienced guide. You will discover enormous granite monoliths rising from a lush holm oak forest.
Crossing these mountains means immersing yourself in thousands of hectares of forest in a nature reserve in south-eastern Sardinia.
This is the ideal experience for those who need to come into close contact with nature without being discouraged by fatigue. The reward will be the breathtakingly beautiful landscape. Backpacking!
What we will do
We will leave with the guide at 9:00 a.m. from Maracalagonis, in the province of Cagliari. From the excursion centre we will travel by our own means or, on request, by the centre's shuttle bus (not included), to the entrance to the Sette Fratelli Park, some 8 km away. Our hike will start from here.
Right from the start, we will encounter a steep ascent that will lead us to the first point of interest: a monolith in the forest, which we will cross on the inside via a passage between cyclopean boulders.
After a short stop, we will continue towards the summit part of the area, where the main peaks stand out. Here we will follow a labyrinthine path between the peaks characterised by passages inside the rocks, carved out by time, in search of hermitages and shelters used as shelters in the past.
We will find ourselves in the realm of the Sardinian deer and thegolden eagle, tenants of theoasis of the Seven Brothers, which with a bit of luck we will manage to spot. While we wait impatiently for an encounter with one of these creatures, we can have lunch to recharge our batteries (lunch is packed, to be brought from home).
In the early afternoon we will set off again, descending from the ridge area to the plateau below. On our way, we will be surrounded by the Mediterranean scrubland that characterises the area, with holm oaks, lavender and heather.
The return trip will take place under the thicket of the forest, to breathe in some more fresh, clean air. The total length of the route will be 16 km and we will cover an altitude difference of 800 m. The hike has a total duration of approximately 6 ½ hours.
Who it is aimed at
The tour is aimed at moderately trained hikers. The minimum age for participation is 14 years.
Reduced rates apply for participants under 14 years of age: please contact us for a booking request with children under 14 years of age.
Other information
The activity takes place every day of the year.
You must arrive 15 minutes earlier to form the group and leave on time. Arrive at the meeting place at 8:45 am.
If you would like to use the shuttle service from the meeting point to the Park entrance, please let the organiser know at the contact details provided once your booking is confirmed. The cost of the service is not included in the participation fee and will be 10€ (payable locally).
