Full description
Immerse yourself in the nature of the Sagittario Valley with a suggestive trekking route that will take you from the river gorges to one of the most beautiful villages in Abruzzo.
Starting from Anversa degli Abruzzi , you will climb the Sagittario Gorge to reach Castrovalva, a village built on a rocky spur overhanging the valley.
Accompanying you along the way will be the breathtaking views and the sound of waterfalls.
What we will do
We will set off at 9.30 a.m. from Anversa degli Abruzzi (AQ), counted among the most beautiful villages in Italy and belonging to the Sagittario Gorge nature reserve.
The first part of our route will take us to the gorges carved into the rock by this river. We will ascend them, keeping out of the bed but observing closely the crystal-clear waters and theevocative environment that surrounds them.
We will walk along a geological path together with the guide, who will inform us about the characteristics of the territory, vegetation and fauna in the area. Enchanted by a landscape that was also much loved by the famous Dutch painter Escher, we will arrive at Castrovalva, a small hamlet set on the rock and completely surrounded by greenery.
We return to the starting point at 14:00. The hike will take about 4.5 hours (including a break for a packed lunch), for an 8 km loop with 400 m of altitude difference.
Who it is aimed at
This activity is at an easy level and is suitable for everyone, with no age limit. You just need to be used to walking.
Children under the age of 6 participate free of charge.
Other information
This activity can be carried out from May to October on the dates indicated in the calendar.
There is ample free parking near the venue.
Dogs are welcome, provided they are on a leash.
