Full description

How much do you know about bears? Not much, eh?

Come and find out more with this 3-hour experience that will take you on the trail of the Marsican bear and the habitat where it lives. You might even meet some of them in the Maiella National Park!

Get ready for a nature adventure!

What we will do

The appointment is 15 minutes before the selected time at the meeting point in Pescocostanzo (AQ). Our guide will be waiting for us, ready to take us on a journey of discovery of Abruzzo's biodiversity.

We will begin with an excursion to the evocative Bosco di Sant'Antonio, a magical place with splendid monumental trees. We will walk for about 2 km along a flat, family-friendly path, ideal for getting to know the environment in which the Marsican bear, an endangered species, lives.

After breathing in the atmosphere of the forest, we will take the car and drive for about 20 minutes until we reach the Maiella National Parkwildlife area. This protected area of over one hectare is not a zoo but a centre for the protection of these bears.

Here we will devote about one hour to observing the European brown bears: it will not be possible to touch or feed them, but we will be able to admire them in all their beauty, moving along a fence of about 100 metres. Meanwhile, the guide will explain to us the importance of conservation projects for the species and the fundamental role of these areas.

At the end of the activity, we will return to our starting point, enriched by this deep connection with the wilderness!

The activity will last a total of 3 hours.
