Truffle hunter for a day in Alto Monferrato

If you are a truffle enthusiast and know this world well enough, you will certainly love theexcursion in the company of a truffle hunter, a true expert on this rare fungus. Together with him and splendid truffle dogs you will explore various areas of the Alto Monferrato, in an authentic 'truffle hunt' full of emotions.

What we will do

The appointment is at the time selected during the booking process in the vicinity of Alessandria. Upon arrival, we will meet the truffle hunter and the truffle dog, after which we will drive to the truffle hunting area (which may vary depending on the season).

Here, before entering the first forest area, we will have an information briefing on the truffle. We will learn about the history of the truffle, the dogs used to search for it and their special training, as well as the various types of this prized fungus.

After this first phase, we will head into the woods together with the dogs. The most interesting aspect of this activity is the fact that it is not an educational tour, but an actual truffle search . If we find truffles, we can only be proud of the discovery!

During the day, we will move through various natural truffle grounds, also known as 'pastures'. The various search areas will always be reached by car. The search lasts a total of 5 hours and ends with the return to the starting point. At the end of the activity, we will be given a truffle cutter.

Who it is aimed at

The activity is suitable for everyone, but one must be used to walking.

Children and young people under the age of 14 can participate in the activity free of charge.

Other information

The excursion is available from September to December, the white truffle period, and from June to August, the black truffle period.

The search will take place in a secret natural truffle ground, also known as a "pasture". To preserve the delicate truffle environment, the meeting point will be announced a few days before the activity.

This is not an educational tour where truffles are hidden, but a real truffle search, an experience rooted in local tradition that we will have the honour of sharing with the truffle hunter. For this reason, there is the possibility of finding not white or black truffles, but some less prized types of truffles.

Important: you cannot keep the truffles you find for yourself.
