Discover one of Umbria’s best-known traditions with a truffle hunt in the woods around Gubbio, accompanied by an expert truffle hunter and his trained dogs .
After the hunt in the woods, you’ll head to the town’s historic centre for a tasting of local specialities in a shop, where you’ll sample dishes prepared with locally sourced ingredients.
A 3-hour experience combining nature, gastronomy and an introduction to the world of truffles!
What we will do
We’ll meet 10 minutes before the chosen time at the meeting point in Gubbio (PG), where we’ll meet the truffle hunter who will accompany us during the experience.
After meeting up, we’ll head to the area where the truffle hunt will take place, about a 10-minute drive away. Once we arrive, there’ll be an introduction to the world of truffles and the techniques used to hunt for them.
We will then begin the truffle hunt, following the truffle hunter and his dogs into the woods. The hunt lasts on average an hour and a half, but the duration may vary depending on what we find. Depending on the season, we may find black truffles or bianchetto truffles.
The route takes place across woodland and involves an easy walk of around 2 km, with some uphill sections but no exposed sections. At the end of the hunt, we’ll return to the original meeting point and stop in Gubbio’s historic centre for a tasting at a shop specialising in truffles.
Here we’ll sample cheeses, cured meats, truffle sauces, Umbrian wine, the shop’s own olive oil and digestifs. Any truffles found during the experience can be purchased directly from the truffle hunter at a discounted price.
The experience will last approximately 3 hours in total.
Who it is aimed at
The experience is suitable for everyone and is recommended for children aged 3 and over. Minors may take part if accompanied by an adult.
This experience is not accessible to wheelchair users.

The experience takes place from March to November and is confirmed once the minimum number of 2 participants has been reached.

Dogs are allowed provided they are kept on a lead.
There are both paid and free car parks nearby; the venue can be reached by public transport. To travel to the truffle hunting site, participants’ own cars will be used, or the truffle hunter’s car, which can carry a maximum of 4 people.

If you have made a fixed date reservation and the weather conditions are not suitable for carrying out the activity safely (according to the expert opinion of the guide), you will be refunded the full amount paid. The guide may suggest an alternative date or time for the activity. You are free to choose whether or not to accept these suggestions. If you are unable to reschedule, we will proceed with a full refund! If you have set the date of your Gift Voucher and bad weather has prevented the activity from taking place, the Voucher remains valid until the expiry date indicated on it.
If I cancel the reservation, can I get a full refund?
