Have you ever thought of going truffle hunting... in Sicily?
Yes, because it is in the countryside in the province of Syracuse that the black truffle and the white truffle grow. Depending on the time of year, you can pick one or the other with the support of the truffle hunter and his dogs. Then enjoy an aperitif of typical products enriched by the truffle found together.
And, being only a few steps away from Casa Nepeta, there will also be a liqueur tasting!
What we will do
The appointment is 10 minutes before the selected time at Casa Nepeta in Testa Dell'acqua (SR). We will be welcomed by the truffle hunter who will accompany us on this adventure!
The experience will begin with anintroduction to the liquor factory in front of which we will be standing and whose products we will taste later. This will be followed by anintroduction to the world of truffles, in particular the Iblei truffle , which we will hunt for. This first moment will last 20 minutes.
We will then board a shuttle that will take us in just 5 minutes to the activity site, an oriented nature reserve where the truffle grows. We will walk in the footsteps of Maya and Jeena, the Romagna lagotti, who will guide us in our search: once we have found the 'treasure', we can ask the guide to take part in the extraction. From January to April, it will be possible to find the white truffle known as Bianchetto or Marzuolo, while from May to August it will be possible to find the black truffle known as Scorzone; the collection is guaranteed!
We will then return to the liquor factory, where we will be welcomed with a tasting of 3 liqueurs and 1 house cocktail (included), accompanied by eggs, provola cheese and other local products according to availability, enriched by the truffle we will have collected. The backdrop to our aperitif (included) will be the province of Syracuse, with scenic Noto, and the sea!
The experience will last a total of 4½ hours.
Who it is aimed at
The experience is suitable for ages 5 and up; children under 18 must be accompanied by an adult.
The liquor tasting is restricted to participants over 18 years of age. Non-alcoholic beverages are available for underage participants, abstemious persons and pregnant women who do not participate in the alcoholic tasting.
The experience is not accessible in a wheelchair or to persons with mobility problems.
Other information
The experience takes place from January to August (excluding the period from 15/04 to 15/05) and is confirmed upon reaching a minimum number of 2 participants.
There is free parking on site. The meeting point cannot be reached by public transport.
