Experience the thrill of a real truffle hunt in the woods of the Val d'Elsa!
Join us for a 1.5-hour adventure in the company of expert truffle hunters and their extraordinary trained dogs. You will discover all the secrets of this ancient tradition: from search techniques to the characteristics of seasonal varieties, and the special bond between "trifolao" and dog.
And to end on a high note? You can choose to complete the experience with a fresh truffle lunch or buy the truffle you have found to take home a piece of Tuscany!
What we will do
The appointment is in the morning in Colle di Val d'Elsa, in the province of Siena, where we will meet the truffle hunter and the truffle dogs who will guide us on this adventure, together with the other participants. We will board our cars and move together to the truffle ground in the Casole d'Elsa area, approximately 10 minutes away.
Once at the site, we will hold an introductory briefing in which we will discover how truffles, the prized hypogean fungus, are formed and where they are found; the characteristics of seasonal varieties such as white and black truffles; how a truffle dog is trained; and the special bond that unites him with the truffle hunter.
Accompanied by experts and one or two trained dogs, we will enter the woods of the Elsa Valley to follow the tracks of these hidden treasures. We will observe the dogs in action, sniffing and digging with incredible precision, and we will be able to actively participate, helping with the digging and sharing theexcitement of the find. If you wish, you can then buy the truffle you have found!
The total duration of the activity is approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes. At the end, you can complete the experience with a lunch (not included) at a local establishment, where you will enjoy dishes based on fresh truffles and zero-mile products. A perfect ending to this adventure!
Who it is aimed at
The activity is suitable for everyone from 5 years of age. Children under 5 participate free of charge.
Children under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a parent or responsible adult.
Theactivity is not suitable for people with walking difficulties.
Other information
The experience can be booked from January to September and is confirmed with a minimum of 5 participants.
At the end of the activity, it will be possible to purchase the truffles found.
Dogs can participate in the experience, provided they are on a leash. If you wish to bring your dog with you, please let the guide know in advance (you will receive contact details with your booking confirmation).
The meeting place is not easily accessible by public transport; there is free parking on site.
