Full description
You have tasted it in many recipes and you love it, but where does it come from? This one and a half hour truffle hunt in San Gimignano will reveal all the secrets of this prized product of the earth!
Listen to the truffle hunter as he introduces you to the world of truffles, then follow him along the paths of a forest where dogs will put their infallible nose to the test to search for truffles.
During the walk you will see how the search is done and you can ask all the questions you want!
What we will do
We will meet at the meeting point in San Gimignano (SI), where we will be met by the truffle hunter who will accompany us during the experience. Then, each in his or her own car, we will reach the activity location in approximately 10 minutes.
Once there, we will have a briefing of about 20 minutes, during which we will discover some interesting facts about the world of truffles. The truffle hunter will explain how dogs are trained to search for truffles, what types of truffles exist and their characteristics.
We will then begin the actual truffle hunt. We will walk to a wooded stretch and enter it together with the friendly Grape, Titta, Lightning and Gerry, the four-legged helpers who will assist us in the search. During the walk, we will follow the dogs' expert sniffing and stop where they want to dig. Meanwhile, the truffle hunter will point out to us the differences in terrain along the way and how they can affect truffle growth.
Having acquired some useful information on truffle hunting and found answers to all our questions on the subject, we will return to our starting point, from which we can end the experience with a wonderful view of San Gimignano. If we wish, we can also buy fresh truffles.
The activity, including the initial briefing, will last an hour and a half in total.
Who it is aimed at
The activity is suitable for everyone, with no age limit. Unaccompanied minors under the age of 18 may participate subject to signing a waiver by a responsible adult.
The route is not accessible to wheelchair users or those with walking difficulties.

The activity is available all year round and will be confirmed upon reaching a minimum of 2 participants.
In the event of light rain, the activity will take place as normal.
At the end of the activity, it will be possible to purchase fresh truffles on site.
The meeting point cannot be reached by public transport and free parking spaces are available nearby.
