Did you know that a dog's nose has up to 300 million olfactory receptors? That's a real superpower!
Come and see it in action during this truffle hunt, a full 2½-hour experience in the Gavi area of Piedmont.
Together with a real truffle hunter you will unearth the treasure of the forest, but it doesn't end there! Yes, because you will then test your senses with a gourmet tasting of black truffles and local wine.
What we will do
The appointment is at the indicated time at the meeting point in Gavi (AL). Our guide, a real truffle hunter with his trained dogs, will be waiting for us!
From the meeting point to the search area, there will be a short drive in the participants' vehicles. Once we reach the area, we will start with a theoretical introduction of about 15 minutes, where we will discover the secrets of the truffle world, from symbiotic plants to dog training techniques.
Then, we will get into the action with natural truffle hunting: we will follow the nose of Bull, Etan or Kat as we explore the undergrowth. If we wish, we can actively collaborate in extracting the truffle from the ground or try to guide the dog by giving the main commands.
The truffle hunt will last approximately one hour. Once finished, we will drive (approximately 10-15 minutes) to the Cascina Marenco estate. Here, a fragrant sensory journey will await us: we will enjoy a platter of local cured meats and cheeses, truffle preparations and freshly grated black truffle, accompanied by focaccia, breadsticks and 3 glasses of wine.
At the end of the activity, if we wish, we will have the opportunity to buy the truffle we have found. The activity will last approximately 2½ hours.
Who it is aimed at
The experience is recommended from the age of 5, but there are no age limits. For infants, the use of a sling is recommended. Children under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a responsible adult.
The activity is not accessible with a wheelchair or pushchair.

The experience takes place all year round.
Dogs are not allowed, as their presence could distract the search dogs and jeopardise the success of the activity.
Options for allergies and food intolerances are available: contact the guide at the contact details given in the confirmation email to communicate your needs. For children, alternatives such as juice and water are available on request.
The meeting point cannot be reached by public transport. To participate in the activity, you must be self-drive.

If you have made a fixed date reservation and the weather conditions are not suitable for carrying out the activity safely (according to the expert opinion of the guide), you will be refunded the full amount paid. The guide may suggest an alternative date or time for the activity. You are free to choose whether or not to accept these suggestions. If you are unable to reschedule, we will proceed with a full refund! If you have set the date of your Gift Voucher and bad weather has prevented the activity from taking place, the Voucher remains valid until the expiry date indicated on it.
